Hey guys, I"m new to seadoo's...i just sold one of my quads for this. When i got it, the battery was dead so i replaced and it was running/starting on land great, no problems only has 75 hrs on it. Recently, i tried starting it and theres a loud click everytime i hit the button. I haven't even been able to ride it yet :(. The gauge also says 12v bat low. With the battery being new i'm not sure that can be it because my battery charger says it holds its charge. Do you think its electrical, or the starter? And any suggestions?

I would check all my electrical connections, your ground wire and red hot wire going to starter to make sure they are snug, if all your electrical connections are snug you can check your battery too yourself if it is not a sealed battery by using a battery hydrometer tester, it checks the batteries specific gravity, or you can take the battery to a local parts store Advance auto, autozone etc and get it tested for free...

The battery is new so it shouldn't be that. I would disconnect it from the seadoo and charge it to be sure it is fully charged. If you hear a clicking noise I would follow the wire back to the electrical box and locate the start solenoid. Use a 14 guage insulated wire and jump across the 2 heavy wires in the solenoid ans see if it turns the starter. It sounds like he solenoid is bad. If this test works than it is . If it still doesn't turn over it could be the starter. Double check the power wires and the ground to be sure they are clean and have a good connection. Keep us posted and let us know how you make out.

Just to make sure, the electric box is the first thing directly connected to the battery, correct? and when open the electric box where is the solenoid?...I'm new to seadoo's and before i start messin around with things i wanna make sure im doing it right. thanks.

If you look in the electrical box, follow the red wire to the solenoid. The solenoid has two wires on the top part opposite each other. They are connected with nuts to hold the end lug on. One side goes to the battery the other lug goes to the starter.on the bottom of the solenoid is a smaller wire. This is the trigger wire, that makes the solenoid connect to make the starter get power from the battery wire. If you aren't sure follow the red wire from the starter to the solenoid. If you jump across the two red wires the stater will rotate as if to start. If this jump works than the solenoid is bad.

Recheck my post in #3 of this thread. Keep us posted.

I got the damn thing fixed, it actually wasn't anything electrical. My engine was flooded with water, including the carb. The engine was taken apart and dried and also cleaned. Apparently when you leave the hose connected to the engine without running it, the engine floods. I'm new to PWC's I had no idea, i thought by running the water through it, it flushes the saltwater out. The way it reacted when it was flooded sounded like a electrical problem without a doubt. It had me fooled. So for all you other newbies, don't be an idiot like me :stupid: and flood your engine it's a disaster. Runs great now though :hurray: .

you didn't dry enough. get it running for a while. you need engine heat to evap the water out of the lower end bearings. do it soon. where in jersey?

Running on the hose

YES, you can hook up the hose to the seadoo and have them run for up to 5 minutes. Connect the hose and start the seadoo. Turn on the water after it is started. Turn off the water, than shut down the seadoo. This way it won't allow water to back flow into the engine through the exhaust due to no back pressure from the engine not running. The bearings and seals on the impeller jet pump are cooled from being in the water. When it is on the trailer it doesn't have that cooling effect so they will get hot after about 5 minutes.
I pre start my seadoo's too, dry before I leave for the launch too. Just for a second or 2 to be sure it will start at launch. Peace of mind is worth lot.
