My question is after I rebuild carbs and attempt initial to start if I have an air leak somewhere and engine runs away I don’t have a choke to kill the engine, so what’s the best way to kill a runaway engine?

The runaway is from the intake charge being too lean and the combustion chamber gets so hot it ignites the lean mixture and doesn't need spark so the lanyard and kill switch are useless. The only way to stop it is to cool the combustion chamber to stop the spontaneous combustion.
The best way is to pull the choke but you can also hold the throttle wide open and the stop button down, this will allow more air and fuel in which will cool the cylinders and the stop button will not allow spark so it will eventually cool and stop running, just make sure it is completely stopped before releasing the throttle or stop button.

Some have had success with it but it is hard to pump it fast enough.
Primers are also well know to get air leaks so you want to make sure to install it on either a low spot dip on the return line or on the reserve line. Never install it on the ON line or carb feed line.
