1996 Pump Questions

Also, if using the neoprene seal is that to say that no use of silicone is needed for the pump? I figure all the other areas around the intake and where the ride plate meets the hull should be filled in but around the bolts holding the pump etc?

I avoid that whale snot (silicone) stuff whenever possible! :) Many of them are corrosive, too.

I'd locate the correct o-rings and the neoprene seal is the way to go (in lieu of silicone(IMO)). You don't want air mixing with water in the impeller and there should be no water leaking into the boat (aside from a drop or two occasionally around the carbon seal interface).

"I'd locate the correct o-rings and the neoprene seal is the way to go "

I used the neoprene gasket only, no silly cone, just making sure that it was to be used in lieu of the goo....

I need to better assess the o-ring in question to assure a good seal

Boat may come out this weekend for it's last ride the way it sits then it goes into my shop to be completely torn down and re-done, re-built, made as close to new as possible.
