can anyone tell me how to get this gas tank out of this boat?
I have about 8 gallons of gas in it and got my nephew to help me pull it out with no luck am I missing something.
I want to remove it so I can go through the hoses for the floor and ski storage drain hoses-and give a good cleaning to everything.

I will keep the stock pumps on the carbs thanks pal rider

my float and bottom of baffle are in the tank somewhere to-want to fix this so the gauge works again

Pull engines out. On a sportster you have to pull battery housing to.
Oil tank will most probably be in the way.
pull baffle before pulling tank.
On later models ski pole is in the way.
Has a strap that goes over the top of the tank.

well I must say this gas tank is a pain in the butt to get out ,I have pulled both engines-brain box out-oil box out everything in the way is out of the boat.
I wiggled a rope around the middle of the gas tank and I am just 1-4 inch from getting it over the middle engine mount humps.
I sure hope it does not breake but it is comeing out no matter what

Does it not have a metal strap over it with 2 bolts into the hull?
Do not break it, will be very hard to source.

Shoot a few pictures and post>>>

got it out had to get my nephew to help and pulled right out with 2 people
I will post pictures of the boat later this evening
thanks for the help grinditout now I got some cleaning to do

yes I have been using a degreaser and scrubing that with a hard bristal brush then sponging it down with hot dishsoapy water.
then I hit the same place with oven cleaner and another brush and wash that down with dishsoapy water to delute the oven cleaner-put gloves on ovencleaner will burn and wear safety glasses the bristal brush will fling the ovencleaner everywhere.
I spray ovencleaner on and wait 30 or so seconds then brush away then make sure you delute it good with soapy water-I don't know how good it would be to let it set along time on the boat floor but I didn't do it to long it seams to be working fine for me.
I have a 3800 psi power washer but cant use it with 2 feet of snow outside and temp in the low 20s-this really bits I think the power washer would do great on this.
its nice having somebody else going through the same project at the same time

I have been using this cleaner/degreaser for years it works really good got it a walmart the last time. it works really good for bringing back the rubber/plastic back to its original glory. just be carful around your vinal decals it can take the color right out found out the hard way

droped off all the parts to be painted at the paint shop should be a week or so on them.
fullbore shipped topend with seals yesterday should be here Friday
will be putting engine back together this weekend-still need the rotary valve parts but do have the degree wheel fullbore threw one in the topend box for me.
after I get this engine together will tear down the other engine for inspection and see what kinda shape its in-it had good compression but you never know.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man with debt and waste (new-bees first post);
Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum (thread) because I am now the proud owner of a 1995 Speedster needing TLC. As a truck mechanic for 30 years plus, I have little experience with 2 strokes. A few observations in which I need guidance;
- any good links that describe the oiling & cooling system in detail
- starboard engine has oil coming from exhaust (both appear to run well but I have not done a compression test yet)
- what's the purpose of the clear hose from tuned pipe to exhaust cone (have not read the manual yet)

Hi and welcome to the SeaDoo forum.

You really need to start a new thread, either start in the Meet and Greet section or the 2-stroke sport boat section. Your questions are just going to be lost here.

Thanks,

Lou

as you can see I got my boat parts back from the shop yesterday they look great
I also have one engine done total rebuild
I have parts on order just waiting for them to showup

Just have one question about the broken exhaust bolt. Is this one of the four allen blots @ the top of the engine? If so you need to change your isolator on your exhaust. There 2 bolts surrounded with rubber and spacer. they are use to absorbed vibrations from the engine. If you don't the bolts will loosen or break again. This is true for all seadoo jet boats and jet ski from about (1994 to 1998) Good luck

yes bigman I replaced everything with the exhaust new rubber cousions both engines new exhaust gaskets and used exhaust manifold in good shape-I also used lock tight on all bolts everything is perfect on this boat now I have around 20 hours on it with no leaks or problems at all.
hotrodnova-I love this boat I have around 2000.00 in it total and it runs around 60 mph
I also just got my 2001 xlt1200 jetski rebuilt I gave 800.00 for it with a bad crank its done and have a total of 1445.00 in total rebuild this thing getsup to 66mph I have around 1.5 hours on it right now
