ok guys I need your advice
my tachs don't work and I tracked the problem down and know how to make them both work
the tach supply wires have a factury inline fuse that I cant fix and they are both bad-
gray--tachometer rpm signal wire lh engine I have power before fuse but none after so I know its bad
gray/green stripe---tachometer rpm signal wire rh engine same thing good power before fuse no power after fuse

if you look at the manual you can follow the wires and see where the fuses are on the wireing diagrams
can I just delete them I don't want to buy a harness?

ok guys got both tachs working-they wasn't to bad to get working after bypassing those factory in-line fusable links right tach started working with the bypass.
I checked wires to left tach and all wires where good so I took a small straight screw-driver and slowly used it to pry the retaining ring off the top of the tach.after taking it apart found absulutly nothing bad on it so I put some lithium grease on the 3 wire prongs in the housing and put top back on and pluged it in and wow it is working.
while doing my search on this I see a lot of people having problems with these tacks-I must say after messing with them I think I have a good idea about the wireing.
no fuses are blowing and everything fixed is working fine I did bypass those fusable links and they where both bad 1 to each tach.
another thing I found out after checking the power supply wires to the tachs is you DONT have no power to them unless you hit the start button
those fuseable links that go bad are in your box with the fuses-it is the tach signal wires if these fuse links are bad your tachs wont get no signal and not work at all-they look like black heat shrink about 2 inches long and are in the signal wires up towords the magneto wires
I hope this helps somebody get there tachs working
thanks everybody for the help

I got out my buffer and started buffing above the waterline on this boat and I must say it is getting brite and shiny.this ski has been neglected for years but it is shiningup realy good.
I found 3 carb rebuild kits from a previous Yamaha wave venture 1100 build and have checked and im thinking they are the same rebuild kits I need for this boat-I also located my carb cleaner, the stuff in the gallon can im going to soak them for a day or so.
I got my tacks working so am I thinking right on this out of the water engines idle at 3000 rpms?

thanks for all your help guys

well im going to pull both engines and buy complete gasket and seal for both and tear them down and go through both engines.
I allready need to pull the jet drives and rebuild them anyway.

im finding hoses that are cracked-wireing is ok now but need to make it look pretty-its so filthy under the engines I hate to even look at it.

they look real easy to pull anyway I have lifted 1100 cc engines out of waverunners by myself with another person by me to help once I got it out of the engine bay that sucked but this boat has a lot of room.

I just want this thing to be perfect with no problems-it looks like im in it for the long haul guys

I took the exhaust off and found broken gasket to after finding the hose broke and now a gasket along with the wireing jumbledup everywhere I think you guys are right.also need to rerun the oil lines for lower end oil.
im going to keep this boat for along time I am going to do it so my daughter doesn't have to row me back to the truck (shes 10)

the boat also come with 3 short ores that should have told me something from the beginning lol:thumbsup:

hi toolanddie maker mine looks the same or worst,i just want this thing to be a dependable boat with no problems im going to start taking pictures so you guys can advise me on everthing that needs to be done and bought for this boat.
you guys have a lot more experience with what parts are great and what parts you did not like.and im going to run into things that im not sure of,1 of them right now is the through hull fittings at the drive shafts-I see their knurled at the end that gos in the hull but cant find no info on installing them so I want pictures of the process-or should they be ok to reuse.

parts list so far not counting hoses and clamps
*2 throttle cables new
*driveline rebuild kits
*carb rebuild kits
*gas cap mine is broken
*new seat covers
*ski storage floor compartment latch it broken door is fine
*new stereo system kit
*engine gasket kits but don't know till I check the engines out-if I need to bore I would get gaskets with new piston kit so don't know on this one yet.
*I already have the rebuild kits for the jet pumps
*atleast 1 new cone for pump oil its mia
*I allso need carb brackets for both carbs-4 pcs total *1 lays on top of the screen its s/s*and the other ties the carbs to the head all 4 are mia.
*cup holders for my pepsi-:drool5:
*fuel gage not working yet so I will fix that after engines are pulled for more room
*I want the same battery palerider used in his boat -1 big battery with 4 posts that looked great
*I also liked paleriders engine and exhaust paint choice im going to do that to-silver engines with black exhaust
sorry pale rider im a copycat lol
so far all I have removed is the exhaust I will take pictures or video of the next thing I do
thanks everybody

That's funny my list almost matches up,plus and minus a few items. Do you have a shop manual? if you sign up to be a premium member you can download and print it out that's what I did I happened to see some info on your hull fittings in the manual but it's to long to write they also have awesome illustrations and diagrams to help you out! I have 2 used jet pump cones if your interested you can have them if you want just pay me shipping the previous owner tightened them up a little to much and smashed the nubs a little but I think there fine im just anal and bought new ones! Anyway pm me if your interested.

hey toolanddiemaker looks like we are in for a wild ride on these boats,i have a manual on my boat I will check it out later.
I took the right engine and jet pump out today and I have problems with that engine-my camera is dead but im charging it now as I type-
my pistons are scuffed so im doing a topend bore with new pistons on this engine for sure.
I need you guys to look at my rotary valve and tell me if its ok to reuse?
I also wanted to ask you can I reuse the crankshaft if it checks out on side to side clearance on the lower rod?
I can replace the outer crank seals but I cant replace the inners-the crankshaft was not leaking from the inner seals so would I be good to reuse it with new outer seals?
I will post pictures of everything in the morning
this was the engine with the lowest compression the other engine had 145-150 so im hoping its a lot better shape
guys if I put this thing together and have the innerseals start leaking that would suck let me know what you think
toolanddiemaker I don't think I need them im going to buy new ones to I thank you for offering though

if I can reuse the crank I will bore
if I cant reuse the crankshaft,a new rebuilt engine would be the better way to go
pictures will be posted in the morning
thanks everybody

here are the pictures
the crankshaft looks to be in good shape have not checked the clearance on it yet but seems to be good no up and down on the rods

thanks for the help everybody

I have been crunching numbers on this engine and I think im going to rebuild it myself.
remanufactured engine with 1 year warranty
815.00 counting shipping charge

topend piston kit with gaskets and boreing
295.00
crankshaft with 1 year warranty
225.00 plus shipping
crankshaft outer seals 20.00
new rebuilt----815.00
me building it 540.00 Im thinking im going to go this route
this would save me 275.00 to put towards other parts and I have rebuilt 3 other skis with no engine problems for 3 seasons now

Yep I'm in about the same shape my RV cover needs to be replaced and the valve plate also as far as yours goes you might want to get some expert opinions and post a new thread with a pic. on the good crank I have im replacing the outer seals on bolth sides but it prob depends on the shape yours is in there are some indicater test you can do with v blocks tolerances are in the manual oh and the rods can't have any up and down play. I replaced the crank on the starboard and got new seals with a top end rebuild the top end is all im having done im with you on doing the engine myself it's actually fun besides the money aspect of it all.

well I was going to rebuild the jet pump and put a new wear ring in that I have and the pump is almost perfect shape im getting a feeler gauge reading of .014-.015 between the prop and wear ring.
I took it apart and all bearing look brand new shaft is oiled real good to.
I think somebody already rebuilt this jet for 1995 it should show a lot more wear than what im finding.
I don't know if I should rebuild it anyway or just let it ride?

Sounds pretty good, I think I'd save the parts for later on down the road for after you've sucked up rocks and sand.

Yea I would let it ride ,you might want to do a pressure test on the pump when you get your new cone its supper easy and will give you a piece of mind.

I need some info guys I have 2000.00 to put in this boat now and need to know about SEADOOWAREHOUSE.COM I am looking through their parts and im finding some parts with no prices-does this mean they are discontinued parts that I cant buy?
im also finding a lot of parts I need with prices-does this mean they can get these parts?

they have no phone number to call I don't really care for that either

can anybody tell me anything about this place?
thanks

well got the other jet pump and engine out today.
I have everything painted on the starboard engine-waiting on new and used parts to showup, should be Tuesday.

im glad I decided to take your guys advice I took the jetpump out of starboard side and NO gaskets at all-they put a crap load of clear silicone and some kind of white ropey crap inside the shoe where the pump bolts up.

im going to update pictures when my parts come in

toolanddiemaker how is your boat going-I hope better than mine

now that I have everything out its time to clean and im going to pull the gas tank if I can and fix the float so the fuel gauge will work.also have to disconnect every hose and check them to and add new clamps.
I hope you guys are still here to help haven't heard from nobody in awhile

Yea that sucks, that silicone is a pain to get off it's weird he didn't have the neoprene seal on there must have lost his shop manual LOL! Your not alone I have found all kinds of goofy fixes the po did on my boat to.

I'm doing good just waiting on parts like you,I shipped my jugs off to full boar last week and I have a list of random parts still to get just taking my time I have a three year old son so finding time to work on everything is a pain good thing it's winter.

can you hookup an electrical fuel pump to this boat?
I still have the fuel pumps on the carbs

some have done it, but I don`t recommend it. the pressure is very low, you`d need a low pressure pump with a regulator and a safety switch to shut the pumps off when the engine quits.

the fuel pumps in the carbs work the best as does the OEM/Mikuni remote pumps, they work off of a pulse from the case and supply as demanded. whereas the electric pumps supply constant fuel pressure. without even getting to the fuel return lines etc etc. try and use the oem pumps, rebuild the carbs and be done with it, or if you have to use a remote Mikuni pump...

Keep It Simple Stupid...
