im pretty new to jet ski i wake board alot but i got me a seadoo with a 720 engine i ride it for about 30 minutes. then all the sudden it acts like its got problems with carbs i give it full throttle and it just boggs down but stays runnin it will only do about 3 miles an hour then if i let it set over night its ready to run again can any body help

Check the vent line to the fuel tank. If you run it again and it does it, loosen up the fuel tank cap. Let us know if this is the problem.

i have a couple of things left to ask karl. if thats ok now one time it happened i did smell fuel like it was flooding, another i didnt know you couldnt run regular 2 stroke.im realy new at this i pre mix 50:1 is that ok and the guy before me disconnected the pre mix tank should i hook it back up and use it or is the pump probably bad on it . the guy that had it before was a navy guy and he went over sea for 9 months so should i run some seafoam in it to clear it out i can get it at pep boys .

Jake, if you premix it should be a 40:1 mix. I'm not sure what model seadoo you have. If it has a rotary valve intake, than you have to leave the injector intact to keep the Rotary Valve Shaft Gear lubricated. It gets it lube from the injector tank. if the tank isn't there it isn't getting lube. if you look between the carbs is a 3/8 hose leading to the injector tank that is the hose that is suppling the Rotary Valve Shaft Gear it's oil. In this model with the Rotary Valve it will self destruct with no lube. Either give me the model #of the seadoo or check to see if it has a Rotary Valve intake. I wouldn't recommend adding anything to the fuel in the way of a additive. I would disassemble the carbs and clean them. If you are careful and don't tear the diaphragms you won't have to get a rebuild kit. Just reassemble them and your good to go. Get back to me on the Rotary Valve thing...If you want to run the injector pump there is a test you could try to see if it is working shape. Let me know what you want to do. If you happy with premix, be sure the lines are still in tact to the carb and the plastic shaft behind the oil pump is removed so it won't seize up the pump and add more problems because it will cook the oil injector pump with out oil in it as a lube for it.

this ski is actually a sp 1993 with a 1995 717 in it.i have the serial number is 4525218 the bore is 2* 82 the stroke is:68 mm the 3/8 line you are talking about is going under the engine on the carb side. i have noticed on the left side comeing out of the exhaust some oil comes out once in a while .im a good aircraft mech, but not so on these yet. i would like to reconnect the oil resevior back up to the carbs is that possible how would i know if its running right without damageing the engine. sorry about my english lol and i would like to try the test your talkin about i got carbs off right now cleaning them.

line

yes carl that line is at the bottom between both carbs very low yes its hooked up so i nned to keep oil in there didnt know that either but there is oil in the tank now any ways so you have some back ground i bought this ski off of graigs list for 350.00 dollars it runs like a rocket when it runs lol

Jake you might need a manual to contune with the oil pump test. This is the best deal around and is real handy to have. If you want you could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and privet use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too.

check this out karl

this weekend the ski was awesome.i replaced all fuel lines and rebuilt carbs problem im haveing now i go to start it in the water it wont hold idle except when i put press on throttle it idles ok.i read shop manual it says 3000 rpm out of water is good . i dont have a tach is there a tach i can use just to set idle, and another thing if i stop the engine for say a minute it doesnt want to start.i have to hold throttle wide open to get it too fire and hold it half way then soon as i start idle it acts like its bogging i hold idle then all the sudden i hear hit idle a little better then its fine until i stop again but i know how to get it to work now is there something i can do to make this easier to start i think its either siphoning the fuel back to the engine or the carbs are loading up and flooding engine what do you think

Jake, what you might want to do is set the idle up just a little at a time, say about a 1/4 turn, till it seems to start better and isn't cruisning away too fast. I think that might solve you problem. The pwc will idle up faster on land than in the water as it won't have the restiance the water has.
Keep us posted.
