Also, check the wear ring / impeller. There's a few posts in this forum around a JB Weld fix, works wonders, and easy to do, just find the right socket ( make one ) to remove the impeller. I get 47 MPH on a new engine ( 200 ) with a perfect ring and impeller.

I did what AirSniper did, and happy with results!

I would just repair the gel coat. You could throw a bit of resin on top, to be safe, ( I would ) and after drying gel coat. I did a similar minor repair, and it worked great. Use the dremel to clean it all out, and then do multiple minor coats, sand, buff and good to go!

It was about $5K, and that included the undress and re dress of the rebuilt powerhead. Honestly, the techs there had it in pieces within 45 mins, I imagine the re dress was longer. I'll try and post pics this weekend, but they did a decent job of making it look nice!
