Well, I think I figured out why the later model Karavans are so darn long. It appears they use the same frame/platform for the smaller pontoon boats. makes sense from a mfg perspective I suppose.
Here I thought they were preparing for 5, or 6 seater PWC's.......

I finally settled down & bought a newer Karavan. Yep, its as long as a school bus. ;)
Its in nice shape, but I am not liking the white wheels against the black frame.

Anybody know a good place to buy aluminum 12" trailer wheels at a decent price?
Saw a few on ebay fro $60-70 each. But still would need to find centercaps & lug nuts.
not much for selection in would appear at first glance.

try e-trailer or something like that...I forget the website.

I'm lucky to have a trailer builder 5 miles from my office, so I can pick up tires locally and avoid shipping.
I've paid as much as $90 each for good radials tho.( really good ones)

so maybe check google for local listings of a trailer manufacturer/supply store locally and save $20+ on shipping fees

I bought my Fatty tires and rims from here http://www.trailertiresandwheels.com/page/479939588
I called and spoke with them, super nice people. I think they even hurried them out the door so they could hit the truck that day.

Free shipping and I had them in 2 or 3 days. When you choose what you wan you can add lugs and caps. Radial tires on aluminum wheels starting @$110 per wheel.

Be careful with the center caps, on my boat trailer they can spin a little and that must have dicked up the clear and they clear is peeling from the center out. So just remember they won't look mint forever.

On my boat trailer I have one of my original rim and tires which is galvanized designated as a spare. I'm not popping for an aluminum rim for a spare. No need to church up the spare, imo.

My spares are just steel white rims. I don't mount my spares either for the skis or boats. I usually just throw them in the back of whatever I am towing with.

Did you find anything you liked for a decent price?

I had a very clean single place on CL for trade for about a month. I got an email from a guy with a 2005 Karavan 2 place. Very clean trailer. all the hardware still bright silver. no scratches or scrapes. He made me an offer to trade + cash. I bought it without negotiation. He just offered what I thought was a fair deal right off the bat. He wanted a nice single place as bad as I wanted a nice 2 place. Worked out well.
It's a smidge shorter than the latest versions at 16' 3" I think for the $160+/- with center caps & lugs I am going to put some wheels on it. I do have one of those spare tire brackets, but I also like how they can be tucked under & behind the tongue with a u-bolt bracket. Only thing it needs otherwise is a $4.00 clearance light lens that was missing.

Well done, that trailer looks minty. The new rims will definitely set it off nice, its actually gonna only cost about 100, cause you would have bought a spare anyways. LOL

did you guys mount an aluminum spare? or keep a steel spare hidden?

I mount mine, and its aluminum, but honestly the price wasn't much different, maybe $20 + my trailer is parked outside about 2 months out of the year, i'd rather it not rust. A steel rim would be just fine IMO, but in my case it was just more convenient to get all 3 tires at the same location.

I ordered them today. I went with three of them. Not sure if I'll sling the spare underneath, or put it on a mount, I guess I'll decide later. I am also trying a tongue jack that has an 8" castor wheel. I have not been impressed with any jacks on the PWC trailers, or my snowmobile trailers. I'll see if the bigger wheel makes it any better to move around.
