Okay, maybe its a little redneck but after seeing the prices for manufactured steps, I went ahead and fashioned my own.

I just needed one step/foot hold so people could climb back up into the boat. I did not want them to stand on the jet pump, and I could see a few were doing that.

This was on my last boat, a Challenger, but I'll be making a new one for my Sportster.

actually, i got another idea for foam, lol -- think im gonna check it out for my boarding step on my ski http://www.funswimshop.com/products/Hollow-Round-Pool-Noodle-(single).html

mine is missing, ive heard that auqua step in corona clifornia will install on your step for free when u buy pad for 12.00, and u ship it both ways, people say that they cant install it when they buy em and try to put on thier self

think im goin to check out noodle - lol

how about just 1 1/2" dowel rod. Drill a hole in each end and attach your rope. Might look less "homemade". I'm goin to avoid the"redneck" term so I don't insult myself :)

To be more "homemade" how about a handle end of a ski rope that's no longer usable as a ski rope.
Already has the holes drilled with padding.

just got back from kmart, look at what 2.49 did, color could be better maybe, but, actually matches ski somewhat, before and after -- with a swim noodle -- took 10 minutes from start to finish, and fits snug, u have to take time, twist and pull some, but i guess looks ok, and will be functional, - i had no pad before, was rough on feet

thumbs up or thumbs down ????

It doesn't look bad in the pictures.
Will it stay on, how did you secure it?

Will it be slippery when wet and with bare feet?

they make em for swimmin, i see tons of people in gulf of mexico with em swimmin, they are made for the water, it fits pretty snug, had to twist pull and work it on, time will tell i guess

The foam on my AquaPerformance step is starting to disintegrate too. I may give that swim noodle a try.

Griz, for best results, should I twist or pull my noodle first?

Tried them on my dock a few years ago to cover pvc uprights, they get brittle after exposure to the sun. Had to use wire ties to keep them in place and eventually they fell apart. Cheap and easy to replace though! Ya gotta pull your noodle first, never under any circumstances twist it!

Jake, i think it's best to use some of that PWC oil on it first then twist, push or pull all you like until it slides in or onto the bar ... :)

Agree, they will get brittle in the sun and start flaking off after awhile. But it should last a season....and they are cheap! I picked some up last fall on clearance for .99 apiece.
