So....Ive got myself another project. Oh and what a cluster bleep it is. LOL

This machine was owned by George Grabowski of High Performance Tuning. He bought it new from Rossier in 96. Doing some research I have surmised that he was one smart guy...and also one of the original know it alls (AKA Dbag...lol). I read a bunch posts on alt.rec.jetski newsgroups and he was quite abrasive and was not afraid to talk smack. So much so, another shop ended up suing him for defamation. He died on 12/12/12.

I picked this up near Detroit on my way to the LaGrange get together. I have since tore into it and taken it all the way apart. My plan right now is to put it back together very close to the way he built it and try it out for the summer. I was hoping to drop the motor right back in but one of the pistons has detonation around the edge pretty bad, almost down to the ring in some spots.

Old George was a porting guy and he went nuts on everything. I have not torn down the motor but the intake ports are butterflied as well as the intake. On one of the notes he has some scribble about porting the VE cylinders too.

There are all sorts of weird crap done to this that have me scratching my head. First off...the carb orientation and the way they open is something I have never seen before. The butterflies open towards the center

The fuel pump had an "equalizer" bar in it.

The hull is like swiss cheese..."air vents" in everything...

The hull was absolutely disgusting so everything came out to get it cleaned up. I have since washed it and it came out OK...still alot of staining. For a guy that used 8000 zipties, he didnt keep anything real neat and tidy. The power wire on the EGT gauge had 3 splices in it, the ground was just wrapped around a engine bolt. So many different types of hose for fuel and oil...just a mess. Called in the Vin number and it needs a new tank.

So anyways....gotta deal with the engine. Gotta get the top end off and hope to god things are workable. Ill peek at the bottom end and the mag housing to make sure things look decent.

Only upgrades Im going to do is go to a 5/16" fuel pickup, new few lines, new water lines, WSPS exhaust hose, MSD enhancer and Water inj controller, and I might toss on my pump off the black boat for testing. It previously had a stock SPX prop custom bent, JD venturi nozzle, and a custom made steering nozzle. Run it, see what I think, then maybe drop it in a non swiss cheesed hull with some novis and a R&D intake. Im actually looking for ideas, I cant decide what is best.

If you drop it in another boat have you thought about having the decals redone since they were stripped off. Would be a nice tribute since he built it.

I think all that drilling would be cool if.....................it didn't look like a child went hog wild with his fathers drill. I mean how hard it it to tape out and mark hole centers? LOL, the ones in the bin do't even look round. Watoose took time to mod the seat pan on my SPX seat and it looks nice.

This thing is a piece of art for sure lol, I saw it in person. I've never seen so many holes drilled in something

The guy had documentation on cards everywhere. He apparently recorded everything. Pretty neat

No, I had some back issues over the weekend and now im dealing with moving storage spots. I built a sweet deck above the pallet racks today so now I can get alot of seats and hoods put away, get the shop back to usable...then I can tear down the motor and figure out a game plan on that.

This is all I keep thinking about, LOL.

I've been reading a lot of this guys articles. He really did know his stuff. He had some type of school it looks like. This could be an almost 70 mph x4
