Oscar the Grouch
New Member
Hi all! I'm new here and completely new to PWCs as well. I picked up a running 89 SP and 76 JS440 with trailer for $1k so nothing special but at least I can get my toes wet!
The JS440 is almost completely stock with factory faded paint. The 89 SP looks like something out of Waterworld in pretty much every way. I decided to name it Oscar the Grouch because it is painted green and looks like it belongs in a garbage can.
I come from the wonderful world of motorcycles and racing motorcycles at local race tracks. PWCs are a bit backwards to me when it comes to handling but small engines are kinda my forte.
The trailer which was white and rusty with bad bearings has been repainted CATARPILLAR yellow and new bearings swapped in.
The JS I have not touched yet.
The SP got its fuel line system restored to factory, new seat cover, the leading edge of the impeller looks like a serrated knife, and I'm currently tinkering with the oil pump system since it's giving me issues. Feel free to jump over to the 2 stroke thread if you have any guidance in that matter.
My goal is simply to tool around the WI waterways on something small and fun. So far the SP is perfect for the job.
