Got a 2001 Sea Doo LRV with a blown motor. Ordered a 2002 Sea Doo RX DI 951 on ebay and this 951 looks a lot different. From what I understand it should interchange with the XP and GTX 951/947 models. Am I wrong or did I just buy something that will not fit my application. I'm new to PWC and learning, so go easy. Also, if anyone has a wiring and vacuum line/water line schematic for the 2001 LRV it would be helpful. In addition to the same schematics for a 2001 Sea Doo GTX RFI with a 787 motor. I know, lots of requests from a newbie, sorry.

I attached pictures, not sure which order they will post.

Also, when you look at the pictures, what the heck is that little piston looking thing that seems to move up and down on the left of the newer block? The other motor doesn't have this. I'm hoping this could be blocked off or something. There are so many more vacuum ports on the new engine. Can any of these be plugged or re-routed to allow me to use this engine? I may also need a vacuum line schematic for the 2002 Sea Doo RX DI 951 as well so I could see where the vacuum lines went on the new engine and what they supplied. I'm thinking they could've been oil lines, not sure. I'm looking at the small ports that seem too supply the lower crank case.

safe to assume that I cannot accomplish this task unless I had the DI computer, injectors, and sensors. I figure I'd be able to block off some of the vacuum ports and maybe make it work hoping I didn't waste money on something I didn't need. Maybe I could swap heads, I dunno.

Ok, I can get the electrical schematics from Seadoo manuals. I didn't see a vacuum line schematic though. I need to know if the ports at the bottom of the new engine supply a vacuum source or if they by chance supply oil since they are near the bearings on the lower crank case.

The bad news is, the only thing that is the same between the two engines you have is the displacement. Just about everything else is different.

I am not sure who told you they are interchangeable but they are not in any way. Completely different animal. The small piston in the front is an air pump for the Direct inject system.

Sorry to give you the bad news here, but a DI engine can't be converted to run carburetors :(

O-Boy, You would need almost every part from inside a donor ski with exception to maybe the oil tank. Even the filler neck for the oil is different. It would break the bank even with used stuff. Not to mention the DI engines are not forgiving if something is not 100% correct. How much did you spend on the engine? I noticed its missing an oil injection nipple on the PTO cylinder & looks to have had a recent paint re-spray. How do the pistons & cylinders look through he exhaust ports?,

Even if you made the swap, you would have a tough time with resale IMO.

Hey at least you guys responded. I didnt get a response on another site. What should or can i sell this rebuilt block for so i can recover from my ignorance? Curious though, would this swap into a 2001 Seadoo GTX RFI that came stock with a 787 motor? If so, wouldnt be a total loss since i have one.

And that would be a no again. It would be even harder to do that than convert your LRV to a DI ski

Wow. Yea, please ask before buying stuff. No one likes wasting $.

If your goal is to get your carb 951 LRV Working, start a thread about what's wrong with it and we can tell you how to proceed. I've fixed up more 951s than I can count.

Well, first order of business is I need the right engine. I will try to sell the rebuilt 951 DI engine. Scrap the cracked 951 carb engine since nobody will accept it for a core. I got a lead on a used 951 carb engine with low hours at a shop nearby for $500.00. Anyone interested in the above rebuilt 951 DI engine before I put it on ebay?

On a side note, does anyone know what the makeup is in these blocks? aluminum/alloy, magnesium ?
