Where is the filter?

1996 GTI is bogging down. I was told to clean the filter. Where is this filter located? Do I have 1 or 2 filters since it is a dual carb? A picture would be nice.

You have the canister filter up front, then one filter in each carb.

number 22 in the picture the other carb will be the same way. If it has the grey fuel lines remove them all and replace them with new rubber fuel lines, also check and clean your fuel selector switch

My 97 GTI was boggin down bad last season. Replaced all the grey lines with standard fuel line and replaced the filter in the carb. Fixed it right up.

Also, my 97 GTI has ONE carb. I'd imagine the 96 GTI is the same?

His GTI, has 2-38I, yours has 1-40I...

cleaned the canister filter and runs much better. I think I need to replace the fuel lines, still have the grey ones. I may also have a vacum leak. When you first start it barley gets enough fuel to keep it running. I switched it to reserve and it picked up the fuel.
