i am having starting issues with my 96 challenger , brand new dess post , new starter relay I've done everything i can think of and it still won't start. My question is should i try to replace the CDI module before replacing the mpem.

the lights on the dash stay lit up during night leading me to think its the mpem

Thanks you.

I have deleted your other thread/post.

i make a spelling error in the original title and could not figure out how to delete it . As you can see it says moped instead of mpem, how do i delete this post entirely

I can fix it for you,,, Sorry, didn't see the spelling error. I normally correct them as I find them.

No issues....

The lights on the dash are controlled by the nav/anchor light switch and off is in the middle (3 position switch). Put the light in the back in and see if it is lit up with the gauges. You got spark?

The engine will cross over from the selenoid and yea the light switch is turned off for the gauges and they still come on

Can you explain your problem with some more details. Such as it turns over ir not, do you have spark, fuel, etc

I have a 1996 Seadoo challenger that won't start last summer we had the engine completely rebuilt and it worked like new. This year when we go to start it we put the tether on the DESS post and it does not beep twice like normal. When we press down on the start button absolutely nothing happens. Note * Its a brand new DESS post that we bought this week and it did not impact the problem. We have checked the neutral safety switch many times. The battery is charged to full. The solenoid is brand new as well
I don't really know what you mean bye spark and fuel the shark plugs are brand new and its got a full tank simply the problem is when we put the teather on we get no beeps and it dies nothing when you click the start button

So, no beeps at all. but you do have a charged battery.

Do you have another DESS key you could try? You are stating with great confidence that it's not your DESS post. how come you are so sure? Did you check your fuses at the MPEM to make sure there were no blown fuses?

Without the key in the post, my Sportster 1800 does not beep at all. with the key in partial contact it will beep long, and if you try to start out of neutral it beeps thrice (I bet this is not new info for you) once the key is read fine, it beeps twice. (this is from memory...)

Since you recently changed the post, I would check your wiring thereabouts. could it be loose?

Good Luck

The Dess post was actually installed by a Seadoo technician , your definitely right about the key my next step is to get it reprogrammed and go from there , mine was the same way last going off it would start without beeping at all
