What Special Tools are needed for Seadoos?

Mine is the GTX model and I don't know how you would get the entire pipe out in one piece. I had to split mine but mine was leaking at the joint anyway. Once you remove the pipe you could have a party in there with all that room.
Worst part about the pipe is it makes taking off the carbs a bit of a pain but if you want to pull the pipe only, part of the carbs is in the way as well. They are just a pain to work on no matter how you look at it.
 
Theres another good tool...a good stand. Much easier to work on than when its on a trailer.

Jetski mechanics take extra thought on tool selection and which side to come at the part you are trying to get off.
 
I agree with all the tools listed. I would like to add this forum to the list. If I get stuck on something I can always hit you sobs up. I used to just grab a bigger hammer:eek:
 
oh its there... in fine print right after it says "remove exhaust pipe"

How about a high rev dremel circle saw, so you can cut the fiberglass on the side under the seat to get at some of these hidden parts...then just cover the hole with some of Nick's sticker decals .... :) :)
 
LOLOL I do not condone sticking my decals over shadetree repair jobs...no matter how hard it is to get to something. Esp on the 951s...

Now Matt...he is an expert WSPS decal applicator. Just look and how that decal fits right in with the rest on his sweet mod...LOL

Obviously, you don't want to be cutting holes in the fiberglass and weaken the hull.
But Honda had a the right idea about the removable side panel to give you more "working" room.

How about just make the two pieces of the hull seperate. The entire top half flips open with a hinge at the nose! :hurray:

I like that idea the best but,
The problem with that is that all the wiring is attached to the top half......so more work involved, but might save some $%^%*@! words and skinned knuckles.

And if SD does what Honda did, you can't get the opening too wide to stress the strength of the side wall under the seat.
 
In all actuality they could all remain mounted in the exact same locations, just make them longer so they all run through a central location at the joint of the two halves.

you can get the pipe out intact on some models, maybe all of them but its quite difficult, actually on the GSX's its not that bad, the last one I did on a gtx was really annoying and I ended up splitting the pipe's to avoid further hassles. its better to keep the pipe intact if possible (not splitting it) because its a real fukerbutt to get it back on and clamped after its split.
but of course that nut has to come off to get the pipe off !
i'll shoot a pic of the underside over lunch.

Also, I'm searching for the thread/post that Nick (I think) had showing a home made VTS wrench, made out of white PVC stuff. Who can find it for me?

Thanks Oscar, the first thread helped. I found the thread i thought was it but it was a gauge tool that he made. Posted in Nov of 2012.

I just wanted to be prepared to fix the VTS when I visit it :) in April.
I have not checked it out yet so maybe I'll get lucky and it's a bad fuse.
 
Not an original, stole it from Minnetonka. For the big nut on the thru hull exhaust fitting.

Also some taps for cleaning out the threads.

Long ball head hex sockets are great for the bolts on the tuned pipe on the 787.

An absolute must is regular hex head sockets

Also ratchet wrenches help out for a couple items.
