As noted above, they are a common failure point.
It is one of the first times I have heard of a service department call and suggest it though. Most determine they have a leak, do a long-term temporary fix with JB weld, then do a permanent fix in the off season by welding the plugs.
You have a few choices.
1). Do nothing and wait and see if you develop a leak (most do, it is a matter of time).
2). Let them weld them.
3). Fix the leaks that present themselves with JB Weld or quality epoxy as they happen.
To locate a good used one is a challenge as they are all designed just like yours. You could buy a used one, get it welded, be ready to swap it when it happens or in the off-season.
If it were mine, and I am VERY anal about my toys, I would buy a good used one, weld and grind it and make it look perfect, then swap them out. I would then weld and grind the one I took off and re-sell it. I am all about no down time that I have control over...
