Wake Edition Pulling Tube?

I just bought a 2003 GTX 4 Tec Wake Edition. I was wondering if its a good idea to pull a tube from the ski tower. Let me know.

GTX wake?........

I know the wake boat has a tower but I wasn't aware that the ski's had a tower. You talking about a boat or ski?

no problems pulling a tube I hav a 2008 wake sc 4 tech. Can also lift out a single skier or 2 wakeboarders.
Donuts are good on a jet ski with a tube because you can do 2-3 tight circles and the internal waves hit a node and them swing a bit wider to swing the tube over the nodes and off they go!

Let me rephrase the question...Can a tube be pulled off the SKI PYLON? Also, while I have anyones attention, how long of a rope should I use for towing a tube and for wake boarding?

Pylon?.........

No, I would not pull from the pylon. Or, let me say this, ........if your pylon is like the one on our boats, the aluminum retractable, then no.....it's not strong enough to handle cut and jumps.......

To tow a tube with a couple little kids.....that would be o.k. ...But I've already seen members in who have bent their pylon.

As for the rope length...? That will be trail and error on what works for you. I adjust my rope length for different activities. For kneeboarding, I use a shorter length. For tubing, I stretch out all 50 feet........

2008 Seadoo Wake jet ski - the retractable pole can pull 90kg single skiers out, 2 wake board riders at once, .... so a tube is no issue. Have used it numerous times for all of the above. No problems with the pole. It is well anchored to the hull and to the body. Good kit.

Bent pylon....

I agree with those pix of the pylons. They are obviously the newer ones with added support for strength.

When I posted above and said "no", I specified that if the pylon he was referring to was like our aluminum, retractable type pylons, that they would bend. The members who reported that theirs bent while pulling a tube is from this thread. http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=527&highlight=bent+pylon His boat is the 2007 model Speedster. It looks like they still use that same retractable pylon from my 97 Challenger.

Heres a link to the parts page and the type pylon I"m talking about. If anyone is in question as to whether their pylon is strong enough to tow somone behind on a kneeboard, slalom or wake board without bending the pylon, look to see if you have this type. It's part #21 and fits to part #18 http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/Seadoo_oem/Seadoo_JB.asp?Type=13&A=141&B=17

DougDove, I did look up the pylon for your model Wake and it is the design that Sportsterjoel points too. The one that has added support for playing hard..........so, you should have no problems.

I have tubed behind an 03 wake edition, no problem. Just have the pylon all the way down and make sure the rope is long enough because when the ski floors it, it isn't a good experience for the tuber to have water that feels like rocks flying at your face. My friend had her contact ripped clear in two and it went behind her eye when the water pelted her.

And try not to go too crazy, it feels alot faster for the tuber than the driver.

The new one's say right in the product description not to use with tubes due to possible pylon failure I wouldn't trust it. We all hate being puller behind the ski in a tube because of the spray even skiing is hard because of the constant small waves it makes it so rough I actually have fallen and I have been skiing since I was 6. the ski makes it no fun so we just use the boat it is kinda disappointing spending 13 grand on a ski and only being able to ride around on it.:(

I don't understand why smaller waves make it rough? Do you slalom? Because a boat creates a huge wake which isn't intended to ski within the wake, but rather cut through it which is the toughest part.. i find the opposite occurs w/ a SeaDoo. and not sure about the spray either... but I suppose it depends on your unit/weight/speed...

No I am talking about the waves the jet puts out I wish the ski had VTS then we could put it all the way down but it just makes the ski's slap and it throw's me off on my balance. We have tried even doubling up the rope but then the ski has to be doing about 50 to maintain my speed around an corner and once you get going in corner you better hold on.
