My father purchased two SPI's on a double trailer for 500 bucks. Both engines were seized, and the trailer was completly rusted. BUT we had a nice galavanized trailer from our yamaha(blew engine). We sold the painted trailer for 500.. so so far we've gotten two jet skis for free. Heres pictures from day one.

Ski's off trailer and on ground..

Took engines out of both skis... bought another complete running 587 engine for ski one(300 bucks). Replaced all fuel lines. cleaned carb. cleaned gas tank. Taking it out this weekend more pictures coming of the complete engine/fuel lines/everything else.

by the way... we are not doing anything to the exterior untill both ski's run.

will try to add more info soon.

Way to Doo it on a budget! That's a nice trailer too. Those 587 single carber's are simple and bullet proof, enjoy!

nice, where did you find them? i'm on the Houston CL every day and don't remember seeing a deal like that. is that your ad in Tomball looking for a good 580?

Your probably not going to belive this but my dad soaked the old engine in kerosene for three days, we replaced the starter and flywheel and BAM good as new. I need to go remove that post lol. And my dad found them on craigslist when we blew our engine on our 92 yamaha. Im selling that hull if you know anyone looking for a starter project. heres a pic

i've heard about the kerosene deal before,, never had a bucket big enough to try it but maybe I should !

yamaha vxr. that was the first ski we had, except ours was the factory white with pink hood.

we got ours with the double for like 500 bucks i think. it had aftermarket parts, the thing was a beast!!! and yeah the kerosene worked great, the engine was a goner so we just went ahead and soaked it. :P

keroseen?????? please someone enlighten me on this what does it do and what type of work do you use it for

ohhhhh ok come to think of it i have heard that now...my grandpa used to say that years ago when he was alive

yeah engine number two was seized up bad and it was FILLED with water... drained all the junk and then soaked it... dosent have the best compression but both above 100..

If it is the engine with all the rust that you used the kerosene on you are wasting your time. The engine might turn over but the problem is that any rust on the bearings will cause rough spots and the ball bearings need to be prefectly smooth. These rough spots will act as an abrasive on the bearings and races causing a catostrophic failure IF you do get it running. You will destroy your cases and anything else the crank touches when it lets go. DO NOT run and engine with a rusted crank unless you want to replace everything. It might run but not for long.

BTW: diesel does the same thing and works good on rusted bolts.
