Hey all,

I am new to the forum and have a question. I am thinking about buying a 96/97
speedster and i was wondereing if it would fit in my garage. Does anybody know the dimensions of the boat on the trailer?

Thanks

Duke

I dont have a definite answer for you, but my 16.5 f t 98 is 21 feet on the trailer. So I would guess right at 19 feet. Of course if you are dealing with tight space you can modify the tongue with a swing away bracket and save like 2 ft.

worked on a 95, which is the same boat, and fit perfect in my garage(2 car part), with 4ft to spare.

I don't have an exact length... but as above... I put mine in my garage with about 4' extra.

I pull it in, and there is room for me to walk in front of the trailer, to the work bench by the wall.

As a guess... depending on exactly what trailer you get... it should be right around 18'.

If you are doing the swing away tongue, I would think you can go up to a 16.5 speedster, which i think goes to like 2003. An 18' boat may even fit depending on how much room you have.

With 19 ft and a swing away tongue, I think you could fit a 98-04 speedster. I will measure my trailer tomorrow when i get home at the point where the hinge would go.

the trailer for the 18ft boats..(chanllenger/sportster 1800's), are the same, for the 16.5ft speedsters. ....18.6ft long, however, its the swimdeck is the question, if its flush or protrudes past the end of trailer????

Thanks...where the 98 to 01's longer than the earlier models?

In the later years... there was a change in the boats. The Speedster, and the speedster SK became a 16.5' long boat. The old speedster became the challenger, and the Sportster, got a bigger engine too. (Challenger and the Sportster were still a 14.5' boat)

This is not to be confused with the Challenger 1800, which is an 18' boat.

Yeah what he said. The 98 and up Speedster that are 16.5 feet are just a little bigger, but you get 2 swivel captain chairs in the front and 2 seats in the rear. Plus a nice big swim platform in the rear. And the bonus is 2 787 engines.

Yeah the swim platform hangs over the rear of the trailer at least a foot. Thats something I am curious about, when they say the boat is 16.5 ft. is that just the hull of the boat, or are they counting the huge swim platform? I havent measured it. I do know that on the trailer it is just a bit under 21 ft total length. This is the best pic I have of the rear at work with me.

In this pic, you can see the front of the trailer. It has about 2 feet that would swing out of the way. The front bow roller section could also be slid forward some to bring the boat further up on the trailer if you need to.

check out the LED'z!!!! SA-WEEEEEET. "Speedster" stickers are slick too.

Yup 16.5ft from bow to end of swimplatform.

So i measured it. The boat and trailer total is 20'4". You could easily lose 25"-30" when you swing it away. So if you had 18', you would be fine.
