Being my 97 gsx was broke when I got it what is the top speed on this machine ? What would top speed be with a different impeller with stock rebuilt engine from SBT ? What can I expect?

That's as good as your ever gonna see without major modification. Don't feel bad if yours pulls hard right up to 53-54ish. It's a lot heavier hull then a X4 and it all depends on several adjustments and tolerances. An aftermarket impeller is not a push forward in every area, you still have to choose. Do you want to get there faster and have good hookup in choppy or foamy water? If so then a Skat swirl is in order. If you want every possible bit of top end mph then a Solas XO

Depends on what RPM's you're getting out of it. I usually can get 6800-6850 out of mine. That puts me around 57 MPH. My machine has stock motor and impeller.

Since I'm new to ski s would the benefits be great to change impeller while motor is out the ski only has 60 hrs on Or just ride it as is. If so where would be a good place to get one only seen them on SBT site. What should I expect to pay

The stock impeller is a good all around choice. Like Matt said, if you get an aftermarket impeller, depending on which impeller you buy, you are either going to gain a slightly faster out of the hole and lose a couple of mph on the top end or gain a little top end and slower out of the hole. Really not much bang for the buck. If you are a recreational rider my advice is to keep it stock.

If you are looking for a good cheap modification without effecting reliability I would suggest an aftermarket intake grate.

I have never been able to get mine above about 52 on GPS. +1 on the intake grate. I really helps it keep sucking water. I don't really care that much about top speed.

I've read that the Worx intake grate is probably the best for the GSX. Minimal top speed loss and keeps the pump loaded. 60 hrs is really low for that ski. Before you look to mod, make sure the grey fuel lines were changed out and probably a good idea to redo the carbs. Make sure it's running peak before you start adding mods. Mine runs 6800-6850 RPM stock on a cool(low 80's) day.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to the post. Ya I got to sister ski with 60 hrs this one should have been yellow cause it's history it's been a lemon. That's what happens when you let them set it not good on any boat . It's already had 1 rebuilt motor from when the first owner let it freeze and bust. I get it and the second owner let it freeze . So 1 set of jugs carb rebuild and fuel lines then oil pump quits now I'm putting new rebuild in and just wanna make sure everything is right tired of working on them want to enjoy them. Thanks again for everybody s ear and thoughts
