Too far gone?

Is a corroded engine something I can rebuild? Sandblast the case and buy a rebuild kit? The rest of ski is in good cosmetic shape. Just got the engine out tonight and got a glimse of the inside. I'm going to keep tearing it down and I'll post some more pictures. Looking for options. This is something I would like to learn how to work on and keep long term if it is worth it. I am not sentimentally attached to it.

This is my first time working on a ski but have some mechanical experience.

Thanks. - Josh

Got the head off. The pistons are stuck in the cylinders but the cylinder bolts came out a lot easier than the head. I broke quite a few of those and had to weld on some nuts to the flush cracked bolts to try to extract them. I need to get a flywheel puller and try to get the bottom end apart.

Salt Turd.
If it was mine I would find a clean core and rebuild.
Thanks for getting back to me. Looking for parts now. Do you know if any year 787 rfi will work?

I'll get the flywheel puller mid week to get the bottom end apart. I ended up just curting the rods off since the bottom case might be usuable with some cleanup plus I wanted to get some practice working on a worst case scenario. The cylinder castings were trashed. The injector service said they could refurbish these if they weren't shorted.

Currently looking for a new engine. I got the rest taken apart today. The balance shaft is in good rebuildable condition. The rotary shaft looks perfect to my untrained eye. It has been interesting.
