This may be a a dumb question, but how do y'all work on your engines?

I'm a fat dude, and pretty much all I can do is hang over the rear seat and sides. Some parts of difficult to remove, but I get it done. But I see people taking the engine apart and such and wonder how do you do it? Do you remove the engine from the boat? Man, that seems like a TON of work. Or do you just tough it out and dangle?

It really depends on what needs worked on. In most cases, (ski's and boats), you just find a way to make it happen. You really don't want to remove the engine as if you do, then you need to do an engine alignment...

It does help to be double or triple jointed.

Lay some towels down where you lean accross and or take hatch off. Im gonn wait till the winter to fix the oil injection pump shaft cause i am going to pull the motor to do it cause of my gut

Screw that, pull the engine cover off. You're just wasting time trying to contort yourself. God bless you guys that hang upside down, you don't know what you're missing.

Lol 6'2" 230+ I'm far from skinny. I can remove the rear hatch solo on my speedster and a challenger 1800. All by lifting it, no winch or assist.

The islandia is nice. The hatch opens the "Normal" direction. Then... there's a big swim deck, and an internal storage deck to lay on. Obviously, major surgery is work... but normal maintenance is easy.

Unfortunately, with the 2001 1800 Challenger, that's not an option. It's mounted down in the rear of the hull with pretty limited access. Feet in the air is me, especially when I drop a nut or bolt.

That's the exact hull I'm talking about, I know you said it's under it. But having that lid off is the only way to fly. You can lay right on the swim platform. If yo have the ladder you can stand on that and lean over, that's how I did it. You can sit on the swim platform and lean down and in. It's all easier than hanging upside down to me. And your lid I'd the one I can take off solo.

my 2001 challenger 2000 I just climb right in the engine bay for most of the things and the others I'm dangling feet in the air.. face down ass up
