uh...we have white stuff here too like in Michigan, but we call it beach sand.
I never leave this country called Florida so I doubt I'd get hit with a snowball, unless you bring your own along.

Pray for our soldiers

I just received the first set of pictures from my cousin in Iraq. He is a surgeon in Bagdad. This photo is from when he went up north.

Remember, we sleep under the flag of freedom these men and women provide us. Regardless of your political standing, we must always honor them.

When it comes down to it it doesn't matter how we feel as a individule...we are a country under 1 flag!...love it or leave it.

Uh, Dave I used to be a snowplow distributer for 12 years before I moved to Florida... No Snow For Me!

I believe in getting rid of the baddies.
But if there wern't no baddies lots of people would be out of a job.

Unfortunately here in the USA a war is good for the economy. It stinks we have to have casualties.

Maybe for weapon sales, and cheap oil. oooops did I say that.:reddevil:

But If a guy takes on a job in the forces in peace time.
Then getting paid in battle is what there trained for and expected to do.

Same as Police and Fire services.

Difference is that Police and Fire services only have to deal with civilians, not the enemy that will kill.

I don't think oil is cheap. It will only rise as a result of developing countries. Many of our really cool weapons will not be offered on the open market. If they become available, it will be through Chinese thefts of technology or the black market. (One in the same)

The problems for the US began in 1976 with critical errors by all of the presidents from that time. The problem is that we are facing a group that is fighting for the expansion of their religion, not power in the terms westerners define it. There is no easy answer to this problem.

THe best thing we can do is move away from oil as fast as possible. Not for global warming, (Which humans are NOT a primary factor!) but for national security. We have the technology, but never the economic viability.

Political topics....

Jr....although this is not a political forum, you've opened a can of worms, I'm sure. One that has me wondering to what extent you've researched "global warming".
I know there is a lot of people who think we are not the cause. President Bush thought the same thing for several years, until just recently, he started to see the point. That point has been made by people all around the world who are a lot more smarter than you or me. These people are respected scientist with PhD's and Doctorate degrees. Do you have one? I know I don't. But the science they explain is pretty simple to understand. 500 years ago, when our environment didn't have carbon emissions from nothing more than a few vocanoes erupting, the earth and its atmosphere could handle it. But in the last 500 years, the worlds' technology, based on the burning of fossil fuels, has emitted tons and tons of carbon gases into the atmosphere. Normally the worlds filtering system for absorbing that carbon, trees and other foliage, is being removed at an alarming rate, therefore, the filtering process by the worlds forrests is being removed at the same time that countries are emitting more and more carbons from growth through more people, which cause the need for more automobiles and more powerplants and all the manafacturing facilities that thrive on people who need and purchase their products.
So to say that people have no effect on global warming is, according to the scientific community, a statment of ignorance. Our planet will always be here, but we have the power to make our race extinct.
I would not have made this post without your comments. But as someone who makes every attempt in this world to be an un-biased person, who makes every attempt to base decisions on facts and researched evidence, I just had to put my two cents in........................

I thought you wouldn't let that one pass Louis... are you sure it was only your "two cents"? It sounded more like $1.50 :)

I don't like politics at all. But I have a graduate degree in Biology. The Earth is a dynamic place with highs and lows. There was the mideval (900-1200) warming period and the little ice age. (1500-1700) The warming period was warmer than now. Be careful to look at who sponsors the studies and look at the methods for their conclusions. Many times you find more than just numbers!!

I would like to go back to the fun summer pictures again!!:)

Cows or Cattle.

Hey what about methane polution from cows.
That might be the cause of it.

How true.....

Jr, it's good to see that you have good knowledge of the topic for which you make an educated statement. So many people these days try to make a point when their so ill informed.
At the moment, I attend the University of South Alabama, working on a degree in engineering. What you say about research, is true. Sometimes, the person who's research has rose colored glasses on, will see things a bit toward the left, where as someone else doing the same research may not need glasses and their research is a little more accurate.
My conclusion on the idea that man does contribute to the warming effect taking place right now, is an opinion that was formulated over several months, if not a year, by watching debates on this issue and the many studies that has been reported by several scientist who study climatology. One study I found interesting dealt with the little ice age and another warming trend that replaced the once green and life filled Sahara Desert, with a hot and desolate stretch of alomost lifeless land. In that study, the scientist showed the natural warming and cooling cycles of the earth, that are largely attributed with the cycles of the sun's magnetic field. In which is determined now by the sun's active sunspots. But in that same graph, they show the changes in degrees and how those cycles have been affected in the last 100 years and it's amazing. They use calculations not just based on rising temperature, but the amounts of methane, nitrogen and other gases being retained in our atmosphere.
Looking at these results on a graph, to me, are the easiest ways to interpret the results of these studies. Which like I said, are the consensus of the majority in the science community. At present, the World Health Organization is working on getting industrialized countries around the world to come to some agreement in limiting the amount of C02 and other emissions their countries contribute to the warming trend.
But, like so many, they don't think global warming is real. When we destroy our atmosphere and have to wear cloaks to keep from being exposed to the suns radiation and lose the ability to release heat back into space is, it'll be to late. Civilization as we know it will become extinct. But you know what? When we're all gone, the earth will still be here. It may take millions of years, but the earth will once again recover as it has before. Then, a new race will start anew...........and if life is intelligent, maybe they'll find clues of our existance and realize what our mistakes were and not let history repeat itself............Just the opinion of a rambling old man.

What gets up my nose is the amount of people that jump on the band wagon and make money out of the situation. And shout the odds at us all.

But there are good points to that.

We have two wheelie bins for trash/ rubbish. One goes to land fill. The other is for recycling, paper cardboard and plastic. Its employing people to sort all this throwaway stuff, so thats brilliant.
It isn't going to stop this natural warming of the earth but thats ok.

Oh and Im doing my bit next week. Im putting the Chevy Blazer in for an LPG
gas conversion. It should also save me abit of cash in the long run.
Im not bothered about the warming affect right now. If it warms up round here it means I can get out on the Ski more.:)

Worry?....

I don't think any of us have to worry. The world isn't coming to an end tomorrow Dave...........
Lest we get hit by a stray meteor...........:ack:

Cost of living.

We have a Budget coming up next week boooooooooo!:(
And the way things are going from past Budgets,I think the petrol prices will sky rocket. Gas you call it over the pond.
Anyway, thinking about prices for fuel.
Why doesn't the Government get all these Car manufacturers making vehicles that run on clean cheap stuff ?
And how is alcohol more expensive than gas/petrol.
When its cheaper to make whiskey and stuff?
