I've got a 95 SPi with a bad motor, and a couple 717 engines in garage. I was hoping to just swap. Can I keep all the 587 electronics? I've got larger carbs and the right exhaust and such, just not sure about the electrics.

i believe so, only difference if i remember correctly is the rev limiter. can always try it. worst come to worst a 95 xp 717 mpem isn't that expensive

You will also need to replum some of the cooling lines with reducers on the head. I think you need the complete exhaust from the 717 too. The tuned pipe is a little longer and the waterbox is shorter on the 717. If you just use the head and tuned pipe from the 717 the 587 water box will be too long and they will bind

Right it's nice to have a donor boat so those little bits don't slow your progress, nickel & diming you to death. I think the throttle and choke cable will need to be swapped as well.
