Stuck RAVE valve how to remove?

On the counter balance side of the motor at the PTO end you will see a cap with a flat head screw slot. Make sure the motor is level and open that cap. Stick a zip tie end down in the hole and pull it out like a dip stick. You should see oil on it. If not then add 1oz. 30 weight oil.

Just from really really vague 20 yr old declining memory,, I recall two versions of 785. One with standing oil, the other with small holes thus constantly loading fuel oil mixture for lubrication. Maybe Im crazy!
 
On the 787 Rotax the counterbalance gear shares space with the crank bearing, the washer used on the balance reservoir doesn't isolate them. When you fill the reservoir with oil it isn't there for long before it makes it's way into the crankcase.

The only difference on 787 counterbalances are in the 96 cases, they did not have a fill plug on top all later models do. Just top it off with XPS-2 when you do it since it's going into the mix anyway.
