Steering seized: 2001 sea-doo challenger twin rotax

My son recently purchased this boat, we were able to get the right engine going after 3 weekend attempts, managed to blow out excess oil accumulated in crankcase over long storage by previous owner, we then installed an inline shutoff below the oil container to avoid problem to reoccur.

We proceeded to launch boat in water, both engines started find but then find the steering is seized.

We removed the cable below steering wheel, but inner cable appears to be seized, will not move in or out of outer cable.

At the stern/engine end we are able to hand move the jet's to left and back to center using mechanical rod tying both jets together, but not to the right.

Is there any way to free up the cable if that's the issue, how can we be certain it is the cable, before we order a new one.

We would really like to get this boat functional soon.

Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

This is our first experience with any water craft.

We are handy with a wrench, if I understand correctly, the cable is separate from both approximately foot long metal ends.

Do we need to remove it first to determine the length, is there a part # on the cable outer wrapping.

In one ad it appears that the cable offered fits the 14, 18 & 20 foot Challenger models, is that correct?

Would appreciate input, Eugene.
 
[MENTION=16022]Dr Honda[/MENTION] can provide you better info than I can in this case. I do know that you can buy the cable from other places rather than Sea Doo. It is somewhat generic in nature..

My son just informed me he ordered the correct cable after discussing specific's with a boat parts dealer here in Fl.

Now we just need to find a thread to direct us on the removal/install procedure, we believe we need to either pull the new cable from back to front by attaching the new cable or a fish to the old cable to ensure passing it through the boat.
