Steering Issue?

Fellow Seadoers,

I recently (09/19/15) acquired a 2003 Utopia 205 240EFI. We test drove it prior to buying and even though the river we were on was choppy everything was great so we bought it.

I have taken it out a few times with lots of family on-board as well as by myself (no one else likes fishing at 5 am) and noticed the boat needs some left steering input to go straight.

Is this normal?

If not is there an easy "adjustment" on the rudder linkage.

This is my first jet boat after having two boats with outboards.

I just got premium subscription and have been looking around there for info. so if it is there let me know and I can read up on it.

Thanks,

Steve

This is normal for almost any watercraft, sure to torque steer. Some boats are fitted with a locking mechanism in the steering helm and/or power steering to counteract or eliminate the sensation for the driver.

Basically, you cannot operate the boat without keeping a hand on the wheel and continue moving in a straight line, there will always need to be some steering force applied. The boat SHOULD NOT be difficult to steer though, if so then your safety and that of passengers might be at rick.
