What motor is in the '95XP, 717 or 787? 717 uses mineral oil, 787 uses synthetic xps, Seadoo (Bombardier) engine oils.

Typically a bad float/sending unit. Since they are the same on both skis should be an easy check.

Yes, it is the plug on top of the tank with the two wires going into it. It just pulls out. Simple swap from 1 ski to the other.

So the shop said the CDI box and the stator are fried. I found a clean hull with everything but the motor and nozzle on the jet. It is a 96 and an spx exactly identical. Would it make sense for me to get a good stator (new or used) and swap my motor and the missing pieces into it? He wants $200 for the other hull with no motor

So after seeing the bill from the shop for $1200 to replace stator, MPEM, and other assorted electronics (His part prices were outrageous) I decided to sell the SPX because I knew my buddy had another for sale. I sold the 96 SPX for $150 plus a brand new .243 hunting rifle and he threw in lunch too. He's rebuilding everything. The SPX I am getting is a 94 (Teal and lime green) has been rebuilt, has a new battery, is already winterized, and is in really great shape minus the grab handle and bar pad. I gave him $700 for it. So I figure $1000 for the XP and SPX on the trailer minus the $150 for SPX (needed a rifle) puts me at $850 plus the $700 for the 94 SPX puts me at around $1550 for two ski's on a double that both run great. I figure the difference between the two PSX's is at least what it would cost me in parts plus my time, so this was an easier route. Hopefully after tax, title, painting the trailer, and detailing the ski's I will be in everything for about 2k ISH. In my mind thats a pretty sweet deal, and I love the color scheme and 657x in the 94. My best friend has an identical one.

For the 94 SPX is there any mods you guys suggest? I've heard a ride plate will work nicely. What about an impeller? Ive heard different reviews on these, some say good, some say 657 has a harder time turning it. Any recommendations? Just want it to keep up with the 720

Finished up my trailer resto until spring. I ground all the rust down and hit it with POR15, then primed everything and topcoated with rustoleum professional grade gloss black enamel. It looks pretty decent. I got a new front jack with a wheel at harbor freight for $20 too. The trailer already had LED's so I lucked out there. All that I have left for spring is to slap on some new wheels and tires, gets some flares, replace the 2x6 walking board and wrap the harness in wire loom so it looks nice. Should have maybe $200 in the trailer and I'm really pleased with it.

And here she is posing with the Denali. (Lights look killer with my all led escalade set up)

Trailer looks great!
I have gotten nothing but trouble from the HF trailer jacks. I pop for the $30 Reese one at walmart and they are so much better quality. Hope yours works out better.

any mods that you do to the 657 are just a waste of money. I have two of them for friends and family to ride. I dont even think you could get the 657 to run with a 720 (im sure you could but you wouldnt like the money) you will learn fast that if you pay to have the skis worked on they wont be worth it. You can make that 720 give a 787 (stock a run for its money though). Dont change the prop. Seadoo gives you the best of both (top and bottom) if your not adding a pipe carbs head then no need to change things. Dont mean to come oFF mean or anything. Im still new to the game but have learned a lot from the 10 skis i have now. In the long run if you want to go fast buy a new ski with bigger engine unless your ready to dump some money in a 787 or a 951. Nice work by the way. Trailer looks good.
