I took it from Birmingham, AL to Cape Canaveral to watch the last shuttle launch.
No problems. Took it out of the water, cranked up the engines with the boat on the trailer for a few seconds to drain, no problems. Drove 150 miles and then hooked it up to hose to flush it out. Went to crank it up, put the key in, and nothing, no beep, and the engines will not crank or even turn over. Seems like I am getting no electrical power. I belive I have checked all the fused and they are good. (maybe i missed one??) I have reseated all harness connections, still nothing.

any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
Kevin

did you make sure you recharged your battery 100%..... I learned on my boat is really finicky about the battery, my boat wants my battery extremely or close to 100% recharged, or it doesnt like me...

Yea. It sounds like a dead battery. Did you leave power switch on?
I was going to do that also to watch the launch but blew an engine. Post pics if you have them.

power is good, I got the right motor to crank but it keeps blowing the Module 5A fuse and shutting off

ok so far got it narrowed down... the starboard motor will crank and run but as soon as I go to start the port side motor the fuse pops.
Could this be the starter shorting out???

You can check all your connections. Possible something came loose on the drive. You can always swap the starters to verify it or try to jump the solenoid which is far less work

Update: the fuse pops within a few seconds, when I have the Port side ignition plugged in reguardless of if I press the start button.

Jumped the started and verified both will turn over with no problem.

I though I would swap ignition connections to see if the problem follows.

when I disconnect the port side Ignition connector that goes into the top of the cap and move it to the other cap,
with the key out the motor turns over on the starbord side as soon as the connector is in. is this normal?

Any have any ideas on this???

Oh. Got it. Those boxes are on the opposit sides of the engine compartment on my speedster.
Try swapping the start buttons next. Is the beeper working?

The beeper was going out intermittnatly weeks before this started, pretty sure it is not related.

Just a recap, The starboard botor will crank up and run with no problem with the ignition connection disconnected on the port side.
The 5a fuse does not pop. I can stop and start it all day long with the port side ignition disconnected. When I connect the port side ignition the 5a fuse pops within seconds of connecting it with the key on.

I just removed the ignition relay box and swapped them out entirely.
Now the with port side ignition connected (this used to be on the starboard side) and a good fuse with the key out the motor turns over as soon as I have the ignition connected.

If I can help explain anything better please ask away any questions you can think of..

with all the connections connected it blows out the 5a module fuse within seconds.
I am really stumped...

I have tested voltage in the harness, voltage on the relay, I replaced port side starter relay.
I am missing something and about to set this thing on fire...
If anyone feels in an extremely helpfull mood call me. 205-369-6187 or post.

Its starting to sound like the MPEM got smoked. Kinda been a run on these years lately. Not really sure how yours did while in transport though.

Thanks for the call phil. One last ditch effort and then you may see this in the parting out section.. :)

The problem was I had 2 bad starter Relays. Who would have thought that could have caused the Module 5A fuse to blow every time.
I replaced them and it has been working perfectly every weekend.

It's a great boat for it's size. I am going to upgrade and get a 23" for more room, This one will be for sale soon. Asking $6,000 Firm.

I had the same problem. Check to see if half of your panel works like horn, nav lights etc. If it does, then there is a fuse (15 AMP) that needs to be replaced or the housing needs to be replaced. This fuse is located following the battery cable straight down, all the way to the bottom. Not visible from up top. Open the housing and see if the housing is corroded inside. If so, replace the housing with a similar housing and done. It cost me $2.59 at Pep Boys and like an hour worth of work. Good luck

The panel works fine, I think you misunderstood my post.
The problem has been solved. It was 2 bad starter relays.:hurray:
