The outlet size from the 787 is normally used but it's on the wrong side of the hull depending on how you choose to do it. I think the best choice is to use a 951 waterbox and a riser(either rubber or metal w/ rubber or silicone couplers) to the outlet.

You have to grind away quite a bit to get the 951 waterbox in there. If you use a DI box then you will have to cut the rubber off it. You could probably shorten the can a bit too with some welding skills.

Got some more done over the weekend. Hull is ready to go now.

I took the ride plate off because it was broke. I have two other skis but I dont think I'll be able to get the ride plate off them with out it braking.....who has one? Lol

i took the foam out of the inside of the hull so i can do sponsons. do you guys think i should put some back in when im done? I think im going to gel coat/ paint the inside of the hull before i do the final install. i have the rx at the house now. ill take some pics of that at lunch.

Yes, you don't want it to sink so put back as much as you can.

I wouldn't bother painting the inside since it almost always starts to flake off after a few seasons.

well i junked that foam i took out. i wonder when im all done if i could use some of that spray foam

And now introducing the RX that has decided to give its life up to restore list 95 xp800 with a twist

2-part foam will eventually absorb water and get heavy so don't use that.
Your best bet and easiest foam that will not absorb water or be hurt by oil and fuel is the pink foam sheets available from Home Depot. Just cut and glue together with some gorilla glue.

Looks like you are off to a good start. Are you going to taper the 140mm pump extension to the 155mm pump or modify the 155 shoe to fit the XP hull?

ok guys got a few questions. with using the pump extension, a gtx drive shaft should work? along with a 95 xp steering cable?

Yea 21 inches. 96-01 GTX. Better WSM or SBT then OEM.

Yes the cable in that hull is right unless it has been broken or changed.

ok guys whats your thoughts on the water box. do you think i could just leave the water box on the side where the battery was in a stock x4 and use the same exhaust port on that side. i seen where someone did dual exhaust and he put the water box on the side where the battery was and used the old exaust port and made another on the other side.

or i could leave the waterbox where it is on a stock x4 and cut in to the water box to make the pipe cross over the drive shaft and then use the stock hose to exit the hull.....

looks like im going to have to grind on the hull of i put the water box on the side where the battery was....

When i did mine, i left everything in same spot and ran a crossover pipe with turbo piping from ebay. Welded an angle piece on waterbox. While i was cutting waterbox i removed a baffle to help with flow.

Did you use the 951 water box?

I havent had it on the water yet. I built it about 3 years ago. It was my brothers vision and we made it happen. He is no longer around to experience it. We had some engine builder issues. Engine is now at a reputable builder getting rebuilt. I wanted a completely stock looking machine inside and out with all factory parts. Thats what it is. I had stock 96 800 box sent out and had curve #5 and rev limit raised to 7600 rpm. It has white pipe. In video, to me it doesnt sound like a 951. Only additional wiring i had to do was for the overheat beeper since 951 has on opposite side of 800. Should be fun machine. My guess is first time out will be 65ish mph. With some pipe tuning maybe around there or a little more. Im not out for top speed, i like the arm jerking acceleration.

Here's to brothers that aren't around any longer. At least not here. It doesn't sound like a 951 but doesn't exactly sound like a 787. LOL You gotta name it bro. :thumbs-up:
