Just curious if anyone bought a I-catch trailer & tried it out yet ? I am thinking of buying one ,but still on the fence !

I have seen a video or two on that trailer... and it. looks. cool! I too am curious if anyone has used one. I would LOVE to see one of these for the challenger 180! that would be HOT!!

I myself dont have one, but I have read some reviews on other websites. There seems to be a issue with the catch system. Just read about a guy that was driving home with his trailer and new 2010 RXT, next thing he knew the ski was sliding down the road, because the front hook came unlatched. Thats all I know. Good luck and be careful.

Hi rfor09 ! Wow that doesn't sound good ! Do you know which website you read that on ? I am trying to get all the info so I don't need to be a gunnie pig trying this new trailer out !

Just a quick question do you ride the Ohio River ? I am thinking of going out to Pittsburgh this summer to ride ! I also wanted to say thank you for your post ! The trailer isn't cheap & the skis aren't cheap either !

Mikey, No problem I read a post about the icatch trailers on another forum called **************. Just search for icatch trailers and there are all kinds of posts about it.

I have never rode the Ohio River, I live way up north, on the shores of lake erie, and that is where I ride.

Good luck with your purchase.

forum name censored, wtf???

It's automatic, and forum rules say no linking.

Anyway... the story of someones boat/PWC sliding down the road has to be either false, or they did something extremely wrong. Once the watercraft is out of the water, the transom still needs to be tied down in the convectional way. (with 2 ratchet straps) so, even if the iCatch system would fail... the watercraft would be held in place... and with the huge walk boards... there is no way it's going off sideways.

As an engineering type of guy... I think it's cool... but the practical side of me says... "GAY". So... for twice the money, you get to keep your feet dry while launching. For a boat... sure. (cold weather fishing) but a PWC... nope. The point to a PWC is that you get wet!

that is rough, and does not seem fair, rules are rules i know. but it is weird. i have heard of this happening on this forum. WEIRD

I just bought this trailer, picking it up tommorow. Im gonna change the wheels later on and add a spare. its easier to mount a spare on it. its also lower than regular karavan trailer. its not cheap tho'

Cool... you'll have to give us a full review once you get it. As you can see from my post above... I have mixed feelings, and I would like to have an actual persons opinion. (can't trust the advertisers)

1,399 at my dealership but this place is overpriced anyway so you might be able to get it cheaper.
the ski that fell of was one of their customers as he told me. he was the first one that got it. apperantly they followed seadoo instructions and front catch wasnt fully engaging or sumtin. they revised it so now its all good. I took it out to the river right out of the dealership. it rides nicely, a bit bouncy bit nothing to worry about it.
I will take some pics tommorow, just cleaned my jetksi and truck so Im tired. the release handle is a bit tricky, I pulled it first time and nothing happened. you have to pull hard for it to release. its also so cool to pull the ski up to the trailer and it hooks up. I hooked it up and released it few times just to play with it. it is soooooo cool.

I dont think this trailer would be all over in a year, its for a small crowd that likes new stuff and neat gadgets. overall so far I like it alot.

icatch trailer

I bought an icatch 1 trailer for my new 2010 RXT-215. This is a pricey trailer and it gets its fair share of looks going down the road. I think it is a great trailer. I could try and describe how simple the launch and retreival is yet I would not be doing it justice. Very easy. Very simple.

Launch especiallly - get on, lift the lever, you are on the water and ready to ride.

Walk around ramps not quite as strong as I would like yet not an issue.

I would suggest that you put on rear tie-down straps although they do not come with the trailer.

If I bought another Sea-doo tomorrow, there is no doubt I would put it on another iCatch 1 trailer.

Good luck.

Got iCatch questions????? Here's you answer, even after I had the catch reset and cable installed.

That sux I hope it didn't do too much damage to your ski.

I don't understand how the icatch system works though. Does it latch at the front of the ski when you pull it onto the trailer or not until you flip the lock lever? what is the cable?

I actually wanted to go look at one over the weekend but couldn't find a dealer that had one.

Does anyone else on here have experience with these trailers?

WOW... that really sux. Sorry about that. I think BRP owes you some new equipment.

I'm surprised that it didn't just roll off the trailer as you were pulling up the ramp.

On that trailer... is there a safety cable that goes into the bow eye? I know on my boat... there is a second chain, and hook along with the winch cable.

I know my comments above about a ski coming off going down the road still hold true since the transom should be tired down... but it wouldn't cover you coming out of the water.

Sorry for your misfortune.

I would like to know if XRider & Jamesriver are still having a good experience with theirs.

I am really interested in one of these trailers but I don't really understand how they work and I sure wouldn't want to have this misfortune happen with my ski.

Still Doing Fine with the iCatch

It is painfull to see the misfortunes of others who have experienced problems with the iCatch trailer. Perhaps I am just lucky yet it continues to amaze me as to being the easiest trailer I have ever dealt with.

We have a camp on a lake. I have a bowrider ski boat, a bass boat and a 16' Tracker that I just mess with. All have their challenges in getting in and out of the water.

However, this iCatch is amazing. Back up to the designated water line or thereabout (marked blue tab on side of trailer), gently ride the jet ski up on the rollers, give a little gas. Then I hear a solid click as it locks in place - every time. I always take a glance over to the release handle to be sure it is down meaning it is fixed and locked. I always put the safety cable in place and flip the reception knob on the front of the trailer down assuring a lock before I pull the trailer out of the water. I have never had the unfortunate experience of it coming unlatched, at the lake, or even when we drive home over some pretty rough roads.

I trailer about 70 miles round trip to the lake so I purchased the spare tire and mount. Trailer runs smooth on the road (wish the road was smooth)

Now, with all that said. In my opinion, the charm of the trailer is the launch. Walk down the ramp, get on, reach over, lift the handle, you effortly glide down into the water. Once in the water, I start up the jet ski and I am gone.

I have no stake in the game for whoever makes this trailer. In my opinion/circumstances/experience, they did one very nice job designing it. And I have put a ton of watercraft in the water. I elaborate here because I have a great deal of respect for innovative engineering designs that really work.

My best wishes to all. If you purchase an iCatch, I hope your experiences are as good as mine. Just don't forget to bring your wallet when you go to the dealer.

I reiterate from my previous post, if I bought another Sea-Doo tomorrow, I would purchase another iCatch trailer without hesitation.

Again, my best to all.

My ski needs a new rideplate and reverser bucket, but the hull is only scuffed, not cracked. I love the idea of this trailer and it was odd it came off on level ground. I always try to back off it once it's locked and this time was no different. I have the safety cable, but I guess I missed the eyelet. (Hard for me to see) This was my second issue with it, but the first time the ski came all the way off. I think the tooth that locks in is too short. It shouldn't have popped out like that. I hope this thing is fixed up for Sunspree over in StPete.

Before I got the recall notice I was hauling back from Sebago lake in Maine. I had the rear straps holding the load. The jaw clamp was not properly engaged.

hauling out of water at my lake on an easy pitch ramp to get I catch fixed and 10 hour service, jaw was engaged, moved 3 feet with my atv towing and the ski slipped backwards, i got there just in time to ease the load...scratched my ride plate and reverse bucket...

I didn't have the straps tightly secured as I was on an easy incline and positioning boat for access

I brought it to dealer and he showed me new cable line and also the handle pin and sleeve that will replace the cheap spring they used for tension

Im 220 and notice 3/8 deflection on walking surface...

Since I have 3 jet skis
1 jet boat
1 spyder
3 atv
6 snowmobiles

that all say BRP Seadoo Skidoo

I'm expecting the BRP folks to change out my damaged parts and make me whole.

I love my toys from this manufacturer and things do go wrong at times.

Never should have happened, I catch trailer has obvious issues including lack of knowldege on the dealers end.

I never found a manual on line never rec'd one from delaer, but watched youtube and always strapped the rear, except on pull that one time.

Stay tuned

undecided also!

:agree:

Mikey, I hope the fence your sitting on is strong enough for 2, because im right next to you with similar questions about this very pricey trailer. First has Seadoo fixed this problem for 2011 and what quarantee,s it will work after forking out approx $1800 in my case for custom wheels, spare tire & tongue jack. I read horror stories and great stories about this trailer, so anyone, whats zupp with it??????? I plan on buying a 2011 gti limited 155 this year and really like the concept about the trailer for my new ski but am very nervous after hearing these stories. I also would like to know if anyone could inform me about the reloading of this trailer in shallow water, where Ive always been told you cant rev up the engine in shallow water due to possible sand/rocks being ingested into the intake. In the video it shows the rider giving it a good amount of throttle for the last 2 feet of water to get it fully on the trailer, so whats zupp with that also?? All comments welcome Frank

I-Catch Trailer

All,

It has been some time since I posted a thread on the subject of the i-catch trailer. From reviewing the posts, I realize that some have had problems with their trailer to which I express regret. Speaking from my experience, and my experience alone, the trailer has been great. It is easy load, easy launch, and easy retrieve. I have never had a problem with the catch, and given the safety cable that is supplied with the trailer, if properly fed through the link to the sea-doo, I just cannot see how a boat could come off the trailer. The side rails virtually makes it impossible for it to come off laterally, so perhaps I just don't get it.

A question arose about shallow water loads which I face in the Fall as the lake level drops. Not a problem. The RXT loads quickly - much more so than do my bass boat and ski boat on conventional trailer. Rock and debris intake issues usually occur when a launch is stalled part way through and the boat churns the underly sediment. With the i-catch, no stall, it slides on like glass.

I am not trying to sway anyone in their decisioning. All I can say is that the i-catch trailer has impressed me from day one and continues to do so. From an engineering perspective, someone gave a great deal of thought to this concept and it worked out. If you ever launch from an i-catch, I really believe, you will be selling your conventional trailer in a week an buying an i-catch.

One final thought on the catch component. It is adjustable (height) and must be set correctly for the boat being loaded. Perhaps this may help in explaining an unexpected disconnect.

Good luck to all.
