Greeting everyone and thanks for a great forum :)

Im looking to buy a -98 1800 challenger but would like some info on how much money I would be forced to put on gas. (with gas prices here in sweden has climbed to around 10$ / Gallon)

It has dual Rotax 110hp engines.

Anyone have a similar boat and can give me some figures on fuel consumption a cruising speed?

Best regards
Daniel

I have the same boat.I went out last weekend and ran and pulleled tubes and skiers. I burnt about 20 gallons or 1/2 a tank.....jason

Depending on what speed you say at I usually get about 8 hrs at almost always full speed, jumping waves, on a tank of fuel. I just sold my Challenger with a single 110 hp.

Fuel specifications....

The 1800 Challenger has twin 787cc engines rated for 87 octane (Ron+Mon)/2.

Fuel capacity of the boat, including reserve is 40 U.S. Gallons / 151 liters.

Fuel consumption at wide open throttle is 24.4 U.S. gallons / 92 liters per hour.

Cruising time at wide open throttle is 1 hour and 25 minutes with an additional 15 minutes on reserve.

The time will increase if cruising at a moderate throttle. I say moderate around 5500 rpm. My educated guess to that time equation at this speed, would be about 3 hours. Pulling a tuber or skier, the time of 1 hour and 25 minutes will probably drop even more due to the constant opening and closing of the throttles.

I hope this helps on establishing an idea of fuel consumption. These specifications came directly from the Shop manuals data sheets.

Snipe it's very scary when you quote figures like that. I haven't experienced that kind of economy or lack of luckily:rofl:. I have the twin 110hp motors and i am a rev head that spend as much time at wot as possible and still return about 8 to 10 hours of boating from a 150l tank.
Don't forget to add the cost of oil in at 3L per tank!!:ack:
So for me it works out like this,
150L at $1.45 per liter = $217.50
3L at $95 per 4L =$71.25
$288.75/10hrs =$28.85 per hour ozzy dollars:cheers:
