Removing Wires from Electrical Box

Hi guys,

I'm sure this is a pretty stupid question, but here goes.

(This is on a 93 Seadoo XP)

I'm trying to diagnose why nothing happens when I press the starter switch with the lanyard connected. Checked the battery; it reads 12.4V. I'm now trying to check the lanyard switch, and the manual says to disconnect the wires from the electrical box.

What is the easiest way to do this? I removed the screw cap, but the rubber surrounding the wires leading into the box seems to be pretty well fixed in place. Do I need to open the box and push the wires out?

And if I do need to open the box first...how do I do that? I got the two connectors at the top pushed apart, but the bottom of the box seems to be stuck together pretty well; are there fasteners there as well?

Basically, how do I get the wires out??

Hopefully this has a stupid easy answer and I'll look like an idiot for posting this question. :p

nuth'ns happening?...do you hear click from that box. Possible your relay is out. Follow the 2-red cables going to box, and you'll see them attached to relay. Jump those 2-post with heavy gauge wire/screwdriver, see what happens. If nuth'n, then you got bad connections at starter/cable bad or starters' toast.

Is the relay inside the box? If so...I'm having trouble getting in there.
