Hello, pulled the engine out of my 95 GTX and have it all stripped down and boxed up ready to ship! What is the preferred place to send it these days? Sbt? PWC engines.com? The guy on eBay from Michigan? Prices are all similar but I did notice pwc engines.com was the cheapest and says 3-4 week turnaround vs SBT which said 7-8 weeks.

I should have done a top end kit on it but waited too long, broke a ring and scarred the rotor housing, and a cylinder.

Also kicking around the idea of going to premix, I don't think my oil pump failed but it's old!

Keep oil injection, they don’t fail.

You are at a bad time, everyone is backed up.

SES and FullBore will take at least till winter.
SBT is just ok. Not sure about the others.

I can't recommend SES and Fullbore no matter what they tell you. They do good work but are notorious for long delays like months and months and poor communication once they have your engine.

My experience with SES is they will always answer the phone and give you a reasonable update on what's going on. This will then be followed but an unrealistic turn over time. X is what's wrong with the motor and y is how long it should take us to get it fixed. X is generally a pretty good representation of the problem y is usually an estimate that will not be met.

I like SES a lot but you have to go into it with the knowledge that your not going to have your motor back anytime soon.

From what I have seen with FullBore it's pretty much the same game, however they seem to have very poor communication and likely won't answer the phone to give you an update. I have even seen some posts recently where people contacted PayPal for a refund due to this which resulted in receiving the motor back in pieces and in one case in worse shape than it was sent off in.

While SBT does have some questionable issues that have been reported they do have a pretty good turn over time and you can get some peace of mind in the fact that it will be accompanied with a 2 year not fault warranty.

These issue have lead some members to source motors off eBay which have spotty results at best.

Your best bet is to look for local shops that can do the work, but beware some of the motorcycle shops may not be able to provide the intimate knowledge of these motors that's required to give you the best end result.

I talked with SES and pwc engine.com I think I'll go with pwc engine.com, the reason is, I told them both about my rotor surface being scarred up and if that would be a problem in the rebuild, SES said that they would just clean it up and it wouldn't affect the performance, pwc engines said they weld it and re machine the surface which is included in the overhaul. I didn't call SBT but their price is just too high. I found a used engine locally I plan on dropping that in the seadoo and sending my engine off, that way I don't have to worry about missing the whole season.

Seconded above, I don't mind rebuilding my own motor but it's tough to get a good time estimate on even a rebuilt crank right now. Currently looking for a local shop to do my cylinders. Big MX area around here so someone's good at 2 stroke cylinders.

I use 5 star PWC out of Michigan, dropped off another 951 last week and picked it up yesterday

Please keep us updated on pwcengine.com as it would be nice to have a reputable shop to recommend.

If 5 star is the same guy selling on ebay from Michigan he said he probably would not be able to use my core due too the rotor damage. I'm guessing he's not set up to do the machine work. Some of the engines he has on ebay ready to go, look kinda rough on the rotor. I'm assuming they are the same people but I could be wrong.

I have heard good things about Fox Valley Powersports. He'll be getting my 951 engine when I'm ready to get that project back in the water unless I start hearing better stuff about SES or Fullbore.

I had mine done at SES. Great build and communication. Took a few months. It is built to be beaten and has a 2 year no fault warranty!
