Hi Guys,

I own a Utopia 185 with the 210 carbed engine and I am getting it ready for the Dutch summer.
The thing is that it sounds so extremely rought (almost grinding sound), and I am worried there is an crank bearing gone.
Compression is all good, thats the weird thing....

It starts, idle's (not really good yet) and revs good as well.

How can I check the crank bearing? And is this a common problem with these engines?

cheers Stefan

My boat makes grinding noises when running on the hose out of the water. It sound fine once in the water. I think the noise is coming from the jet pump.

Ah oke, could be an explanation.
We just bought it last summer and it went to the upholsterer right away.
Only tested it once on water but can't recall if the grinding sound was still there.

good thing to check it first before tearing it apart! thanks!

The jet pump has two oil reservoirs, grab a service manual and check/change the gear oil. I think this should be done at least once a year if not twice, depending on how much you use your boat.

Out of the water the Seadoo makes some scary noises from the pump area. It wants a load which it gets from the impeller. Once loaded, the noise is gone.

I already changed all the oils from the pump.
But I am happy to hear there are more people were, on land, it makes a scary sound!
I will give some feedback when I tried it out.

thanks guys!
