We got any further ideas or thoughts on this? We have to make this happen!

I'm all for making this happen just need to make a time and place and let people find places to stay. I for one will probly camp if I can.

We just need to decide on a location. I'm down for Norman if everyone is. As far as camping goes, if we plan to meet around June it will be miserable without A/C. We did a riding trip last summer and decided to camp which was a huge mistake. 90 degrees plus the humidity around here was no fun. We all said we wish we would have thrown in on a house or hotel. I love camping but only in the colder months

Yup! You don't camp in NC past April and until Oct.

Camping shouldn't be that hot in June... at least its not up here in "North" Carolina ;) I vote Norman. Never been there but sounds like a great spot. If we want to stay off-season, Memorial day is May 30, so how about start on Thursday, May 19 and go thru the weekend 5/22. That way some early riders can come and make a long weekend of it, and others can just join on the weekend. The last couple of years it has been in the upper 70's to mid 80's here.

I cant seem to find any cabin rentals on Norman. It looks like its either the Landing restaurant/motel or VRBO rentals. The Landing looks like it has a bar and deck on the water, but the rooms look kind of rough online.

I started looking at Lake Gaston and found the Stonehouse Timber Lodge, anyone ever been there? It looks like it would be a good location. Houses 1 & 2 and the row of cabins would be perfect for us http://lakegastonfun.com/index.html MPower

http://thepointresorttn.com/ on Douglas lake in TN looks good too. Never been there but the lake looks like it has potential

Anyone thought about smith mountain lake in Virginia not just bringing it up because I have a camper set up there. There is a lot of places to stay there hotels, bars, and restaurants all on the water

SML is awesome pretty. Nice long rides. Calm water up above bridgewater, but the main part of the lake gets pretty choppy on weekends. At least during the mid summer time. Pre Memorial day may be better though. Any camping or small cabin clusters there? I know there are tons of high end houses for rent, but that gets pricy and they often want a full week rental. Gaston looks nice. Someone would have to scope it all out. I'm too far away to scope them out. I'm open to any of them.

What info do you need about Gaston? We have a couple folks who have places there already. I've also been there quite a bit riding with mpower.

I'm down for anywhere that has a bunch of massive boats to jump..

We could do a few big cookouts for lunches. Hamburgers, hotdogs, or all throw in and get BBQ

Looking at the pictures on Google maps, does this place only have 9-10 rooms? It does say there are road or street views so maybe there are rooms on both sides of the motel.

I believe there are rooms on both sides. If you look at the picture that shows the deck you can see a bunch more rooms. I'm down with the Landing. I can go check it out, talk to them, and take some pics this week. I think Norman will be fun for everyone
