Overheating!

please help! My 2002 sportster le runs fine on the trailer. idles at about 3000 rpm. pisses fine. does not overheat. i drop it in the water idles at about 1200 rpm. not pissing. starts over heating after a few min at idle. i bought a brand new pump housing from OSD and a new impeller. it is pumping water up to the cylinder head. but after that its diffucult to trouble shoot in the water. and impossible on land hooked up to a hose. cant sit on a hot engine pulling water lines one at a time. any suggestions?

Make sure your water lines are not reversed at the back of the head.
