Seadoo shows 17

Got it all back togethor we are headed to the lake to water test now. We only have a little over an hr before dusk so not much time since it is a 20 minute ride and it just cooled off and rain is headed this way lol.

My Clymer manual 1988-1996 also lists it as 30 ft lbs for a 787......good thing I downloaded a Seadoo manual off this site (actually 3 of them)

One other thing I noticed wrong in clymer... think it was the routing of the oil line from motor to tank...without looking it up again i think they pictured it from the top or side of motor instead of off the bottom.

Are you in Lake Orion testing it?

We ran taps through all the threads, cleaned the head with a scotchbrite, then reassembled everything according to the SEADOO manual.

All the manuals call for diffent lubes, some call for grease others call for oil. We have a manual at the shop and manuals at each of our houses, we also will use the online manuals but we prefer using the seadoo manual.

No this one is going to be for personal use. My buddy that does this with me is keeping it. That is why we paid more than usual for a non running 787. We paid over $1000 for a non runner. It worked out in our favor but I wouldnt recommend doing that lol.

The mill makes that soooo nice! I have never easy outed mine. We just work up to just remove the screw(minor diameter). I have helicoiled a few of them after we had a drill bit snap in one then had that Wire EDM'd out. My XP has one or two that are helicoiled. I guess when Bombardier engineered these they left just enough space for a helicoil tap, they must have know it was going to be a problem down the road. I barely get any tap markings on OD of the cylinder wall, then I use the 16mm long inserts. Just for your reference they're available from Mcmaster.

If the easy out did not work he was going to step up the drill bit size until we would be able to pick the threads. He was iffy that the easy outs would work but it came out with ease. Last resort was the helicoils though which he had.

Over the weekend we also sent a gsx hull to its grave

It ended up getting broken up into many smaller peices but it sure beats a sawzall

The spx hull in the backround is next in line to be crushed. Each hull fills about half of the dumpster so we will only do one at a time.

A couple more pics of the seat stencils on gsx's. I went out on the water at about 3 today it was 93 and noone was on the lake it was great to have a couple mid 90 degree days in The middle of September. These seadoos were my old personal seadoos that my buddy now owns. I put these seat stencils on them a while back and they turned out really good.

Lol when I was taking the pictures I could not see the screen on my phone because the glare from the sun was too bright.

Not the sun, the bright white hull, snow blind. Just ball breakin'

I just finalized a carbon fiber hull tonight and it is a GSX from Big Red Racing. I wanted the lightweight advantage with the fuel capacity(range) along with coolness of a super rare piece of history.

I will go performance where you go clean and reliable. Not complaining I love your builds.

OK OK your a little too quick to rip some clean OEM decals off.

Cool Stuff
I cant wait to see pics Matt
I love that Hull design , obviously just look at my avitar LOL

IMG_2022.JPGIMG_9288.jpgI need that big rubber piece that goes under the tank on the GSX you just crushed. Here is a couple pics of the one I will build up in a few months. You can tell from the hood and trim and Budwieser tour sponsorship that it was from 96. The engine mounts are for a 787 also.

That's sweet. Now, since you're scratch building it's time to step up the build quality. Build a show boat that rips no multi color engine and exhaust, I know they go fast, just refine the internal appearance.

Oh No Bro. I did build the other skis colorful but it was on purpose. I'm not a polisher but a tuner. I'm always looking back to the real heyday when so much attention was put into making these things perform slightly better than the one next to it by sending the different components off to different specialists. I have built my "extremely modified X4" up from that point twice(it's in a real sweet spot now).

I'm taking a stab at having something "nice" with the RXX's. I even washed them once. I felt something scrape underneath the hull on one as I pulled up somewhere and it hurt me internally. For these reasons I enjoy a daily driver.

I would rather peel my finger nails back one at a time than remove the period sponsorship stickers that are left on the ski (ha-ha just kidding but you get it). I have bought all the magazines and stickers I've found from that period. I would like to just finish it out the way it is. I have a brand new billet Big Red Racing head for an 800 that will definitely be used. I can see maybe rising up on a super legit seat.

The GSX is a much better handling hull that the RX that followed. I absolutely love the big 15 gal tank. I'm really excited to have a keeper planned for my fleet.

By no means should you rip those stickers off for any reason. One of the big reasons I wanted to get one of Justins hulls was my 96's came from Big Red. Nostalgia plain and simple. I would have just stuffed all my XP guts in it. That GSX hull looks clean, I assume it's coming from Chris? in Jersey? That Big Red head will look cool on there for sure. Do you have any pics of the GSX in it's earlier form, I fond it hard to believe that those were the only decals put on it.
