OMG seriously who are these people on Craigslist??

LOL dont reply...they just want your email address to spam you.

ya, on the stupid polaris motor i've been trying to sell for 6 months, I got spammed by at least 50 women who found my motor intriguing and wanted to get together for "fun times" drove me nuts ! they finally quit about mid february... it went on for a good 45 days. is this really what people do for a living ?

It was a sad day a week ago. A guy called and bought the jetmate for $3g for his collection of weird and interesting machines. Dropped it off and he had a man cave of epic proportions. R/C models everywhere, Para glider, wetbike, modded 90mph rxp, 3-d, and on and on...

Luckily I think I talked him into going to the Dells freeride so that makes me happy again.

I have broken Xbox with 12 controllers and 200 games, you trade cash on your end? Can you also help my friend escape Nigeria? Only 20000 USD he is a prince and will give you 1M USD upon his safe arrival here.

LOVE craigslist.... But lately I have noticed that you don't get the other persons email, it all gets routed through the cl address.

Yep I have a 2nd hotmail for that reason. Over 5 years and 100's of transactions through cl and the level of spam I get is very low

I hate the "still available" scams,,, i'm about to just stop replying to them... starting to wonder why I haven't :)

just had it two days ago on a ski for sale. you know for sure they're scamming when they say "have a blessed day" gives honest Christians a bad name, but honestly i'm leery even if I see a listing that says "God bless", always makes me suspicious.

here was my response to the "ya its still for sale" email.

Thanks for the quick response about the inquiry. Am quite comfortable with the item and would not mind adding an extra$50 to your asking price to keep the item in my favor. I would love to have been there for inspection but am be embarking on a 2-8weeks radiotherapy treatment tomorrow morning unfailingly. I am paying by Bank Certified Check and will be sure it gets to you by express mail if you consider selling to me. Most people do not accept check these days considering the fear behind it but i want to assure you i will not make pick up arrangement until you have your cash at hand. You may not have to worry about pick up as i have a Mover to handle it.

I will make arrangement for the pick-up after payment has been received and you have your cash at hand.I believe you will find other interested buyers within and afar but it's quite important i get this. I will be more than glad if it could be sold to me. Kindly get back to me with your full name, mailing address and phone number for check payment. I'll be waiting anxiously to hear back from you.
Thanks and have a Blessed Day.

Lisa

jerks !

wow. i live in puerto rico and received the same email when i posted some things for sale on the equivalant of craigslist. same wording, different email address

it never stops !
spammers are quickly ruining CL.

i renewed my ad 4 hours ago, it includes a phone number ! got these three emails all within 5 minutes of each other.

I am not telling lies my inbox is bombarded with trash and I'm about to toss in the towel. Go ahead show me u are legit by replying to to Stahnkeu531@hotmail.com

I am enthusiastic to find out to get on with it. If you r legit like me holla back to Goodricko86@hotmail.com

This is actually my 1st time trying this place and thus far lousy luck. Could we continue our interaction to my email to make it safeguarded? It is Whitecottonslu305@hotmail.com

honestly, no point in responding to any of them......

The spammers are desprate now that all email correspondence goes thru CL.

this guy is such a dickhead on my opinion

http://gainesville.craigslist.org/pts/3707767831.html

so I say "Hi, I was wondering how much are you asking for the whole car? thanks"

he says "offer" (I hate it when people do that, cause you have idea what they want or think it's worth)

I say "$400?"

he says "Message me back when you get a job"

lol, in some ways i wouldn't even say i lowballed him, sure the parts are worth way more than that separately, but to get that car back together, it's with that mileage, it might not even be worth 2K in good shape, and it'd would def take a lot of labor and parts to get put back together

ya, that one is in pretty rough shape and high miles too lol
in perfect shape its worth more than 2K, but not THAT much more due to milage.
I paid 3750 for a nearly identical car, but it did have cobra hood, and tails, killer stereo similar rims.
but it needed a conv top and a windshield.

poor CL scammers are really having a hard time now... trying to bury their email addy's in attachments....
quite amazing actually ....

My Email Address9.txt

Too many fakers! I ONLY reply to those who email me on there to prove you're REAL.

Please email me HERE if you are REAL - (copy & paste it)

My REAL email 3.txt

Too many fakers! I ONLY reply to those who email me on there to prove you're REAL.

Please email me HERE if you are REAL - (copy & paste it)

Got both of these, within 30 seconds of each other, one on a $3500 ski, the other one on a $40 headboard.... wtf ???

**** I don't know if it helps... but i'm flagging EVERY scam email I get ,,, can't hurt...

I got so tired of the scammers this morning but I decided to have some fun with them actually made one of the guys laugh. He sent me an email regarding my ski for sale and I told him it was sold but I did have a hot bag of crap right out of my dog's ass that I would be willing to sell them.

If he asking about the ski, then how do you know it was a scammer?

What's the secret about getting to know scammers from honest to goodness people?

If he asking about the ski, then how do you know it was a scammer?

What's the secret about getting to know scammers from honest to goodness people?

first, honest to goodness people have phones and make phone calls...

generally its pretty obvious, but sometimes you have to search for clues...

this one is pretty obvious...
Do you still have the item for sale? Pls send me the pictures my email below
g1star210@gmail.com
Thanks

I didn't even respond, there are 8 pictures in the ad, and the ad was posted yesterday, its a reasonable assumption that its still for sale, gmail accounts are a dime a dozen..

but i'm to the point now that if they just can't simply pick up the phone and call me, (which is even listed on my ad.. "due to the large number of scammers, please just pick up the phone and call me" then I'm pretty much not going to respond to any inquiries , period, unless they go wayyyy out of their way to or offer a trade or something rather unique.

but Tim, quite honesty, if they ask if its for sale, and ask that you reply to another email address, there is a 98% certainty that they are just a scammer. 2% chance that they are legit... and since I haven't figured out a way to report them, its best to just ignore them.

I had one yesterday, guy wanted to know my best price... I said "I just hit the lotto, so i'll sell it for $6, first come first serve" he responded with "are there any mechanical issues" ? boom.. scammer, again its a ski with a brand new engine under warranty and there are 8 photo's listed... i didn't even bother.

quite simply if you respond to their question with a question of our own, like "where do you live" and they ignore it... they're scammers.

Just an opinion needed here.....my buddy and I were selling a seadoo, and the potential purchaser wanted to ride it
first. No problem - there's a free launch in a major river 10 minutes from us. Nope guy won't do it - "doesn't feel comfortable
in the river"... SO you guys bring it to the small lake where I have a cabin - it's about 45 min each way plus gas, time for the test
etc. We say nope too far away. We'll take it to the closest launch otherwise (a river inlet) BUT it's $17 to launch and $7 each
way for the bridge tolls - but you (potential buyer) will have to foot the bill for the launch and tolls. Potential buyer says
nope I'm not covering it. We say then go away. Are we wrong here?

Nope,

Water test at your choice. River/Lake still a body of water to see it floats and runs.
Take it where ever you want afterwards.
Otherwise he should pay!

Good we thought so too. He was just an unreasonable jerk about it. He couldn't fathom why we didn't want to
blow off over 2 hours to *maybe* him purchasing it, or why we weren't willing to fork over $29 (not incl gas)
for the privilege him riding it. I was waiting for him to hit us up for a mechanics bill to inspect the thing.

We've just never (believe it or not) ran into such a jerk. Although we did have a guy who wanted us to discount
the machine $150 immediately as he had to pay for a ferry ride in order to come and look at it...plus drive to the ferry
(45 min minimum) to show it to him. :banghead:

Please, then walk into your closest dealer and put down a down payment.
Or keep looking for one as good as mine for xx amount around the corner from your house or narrow your search to your zip
Otherwise NO FREE RIDES!!!!!!!!!!!

GL on sale though. What you selling?

A pretty mint 2002 RXDI. Yes I know the DI bad press but this has been a great machine. Only 112 hours too.

i've sold at least 15 ski's, i've had ONE water test... (a wave venture and he thought it was scary fast, and then he asked me to deliver it to his house since it turns out he doesn't have a hitch. i've had Zero Compression tests.... yes... Zero.

but regarding water tests, i've been asked many times if I'm willing and I always say yes.... but here are my condition's and they are simple, come to my house, look at the ski, finalize the price and show me the cash. If you can meet those conditions then i'll tow it to my local ramp for a test ride, but oddly enough most people just want you to say yes, but don't really want to bother. Its weird. I still haven't figured out why nobody wants to do a comp test... but who am I to question... lol

Says the person who either spent money getting it right or the lucky one that got a good one
:)
It does sound like a barn find!

Well my personal machines are 02 GTXDI's and I actually bought this one thinking of keeping it as I wanted the speed
but once my wife tried my GTX she wanted one for herself.....so I rode this a bit but really liked the GTXDI when in
choppy water...plus I'm an older geezer now. I'm looking for a comfortable couch ride and a nice cruise....
