Regarding removing old fuel from a 240 EFI, I removed the plug on the bottom of the Vapor Separator and let it drain out and removed the filter/water separator, drained and cleaned it with fresh gas. The filter on the Primer Pump was also cleaned. Is there anything else that can be done? Is it OK to spray carb cleaner in the top of the Vapor Separator, let it sit, then drain it out the bottom plug? I don't know how effective it will be and if it would get to important parts. I know turning the key to the On position turns on the Primer Pump, but does it also turn on the pump on in the vapor separator? And if it did turn on and suck up some carb cleaner, would this be beneficial or harmful to the pump or the injectors?
Thanks again,
James

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT put carb cleaner into the vapor tank. There's lots of rubber parts that won't like it. If you are having an issue... then you have to take the tank apart, and clean it properly. Besides... there's a filter on the bottom of the high pressure pump that may need some love.

Second....

Replace the filters. I may have read your post wrong... but you can't clean a filter that is meant to be disposable. Not to mention... if there was some water, or "Varnish"... then you can get algae growth, and it will just plug it up.

Once you get some clean filters, and clean fuel into the system... the pumps will re-fill, and start the engine in just a few seconds. (probably 6~10 seconds)
