For pervious hot starting problems, it has recently had: new battery; new plugs; new fuel pump; new fuel filters; new solenoid.

Cleaning the ground connection at the engine block and adding a 2nd, larger, ground cable finally seemed to cure the hot start issues.

Last ran it 10/15/20, 7 days ago. It has been parked in the garage, plugged into a trickle charger.

Today, I was in a hurry and didn't try starting it in the garage. Topped off the tank with 5 gallons of ethanol-free. Got to the ramp, put it in the water, and hit the switch. It turned over - and over and over, but didn't catch. It turned over as long as I held the button down. I could smell the gas.

Took it home, waited an hour and tried again. Same thing.

Another hour later, it turned over and coughed once or twice. I propped the throttle open a little, and it fired up and ran just fine.

Just waited another hour and it started right up.

Now what?

Yesterday, it started perfectly in the garage. And in the water. Ran it for 90 minutes non-stop, waited an hour and it started perfectly. Argh!
