Hi folks,
Looking for some troubleshooting if anyone has had a similar problem.

About 2 years ago I went to winterized my 1999 GS after the summer. I didn't have my SeaDoo battery on me so I used jumper cables and a car battery to try to turn it over/start it to get the fuel saver and fogging oil to run through the engine.

I used some large commercial grade jumper cables, and immediately upon connecting I noticed some smoke and a spark, so I removed the cables. I then was out of luck so I stored the SeaDoo away for 2 years, until now.

Trying to get it going again, I installed a brand new battery, when the key is in the SeaDoo has absolutely no power. No dash lights, beeps or anything. Nothing happens when you push the start button - it's completely dead.

I did some searching on here and figured it may have been the starter solenoid. I just bought a new one and installed it, yet the same result - no power at all.

I checked the 4 fuses (3 in front fuse box and 1 in the starter box - all are intact)

All the wires look fine and corrosion is nowehere on the machine.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. I chatted with the local SeaDoo dealer, who other than the solenoid, didn't have any suggestions - other than the key possibly being dead. I don't think it is the key as it worked fine last time I used it, and I'm almost sure it had something to do with the smoke coming from the machine upon attaching those spark plugs.

I'm not very mechanically included so please let me know if you think there is anything simple I could be missing.

*of note, from lots of other forums people have suggested wires corroded or attached to the wrong places, however I did not fumble with any wires and all is intact exactly how it was prior to the smoke incident.

Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have!

It sounds like you might have fried your MPEM (computer).
If all cables, connections and fuses are good that is about all that is left considering you saw smoke after connecting the cables and now it's dead.

Okay thanks for the help mikidymac, that's what I was thinking as well. I'll replace that and see if it fixes my issue.

Cheers!
