New winter project!

Hey Guys ... looks like I got another project seadoo to keep me busy for the rest of this winter. Heading to pick it up this weekend, 04' Sportster 4-TEC. So far looks like it needs rockers arms and valves (so basically a head rebuilt). This is so far though I'll get a closer look this weekend. The hull is in immaculate condition with a new trailer and boat cover and a bimini top ... just under $3k. Maybe less depending of visual inspection of top end. I know what you guys are thinking "thats pretty pricey for 15' foot boat with blown motor" but up here thats a sweet deal.

The last time i got into a project like this I didn't take any pics or document ... This time I'll get a ton of pics and add it to the "How too section"

Yes ... as much as I love travelling the US this one is only about an hours drive from my place.

Sounds like a fun project that could turn out to be another good deal. Did you decide to keep the last project or did you sell it? I dont remember.

Hey Foster,

Actually just got back from checking out the sportster .. picked it up for $2600.00 It was obviously underwater and the bottom end took in some water. But luckily it was completey apart at the dealership so I had the opportunity to go over every piece, its going to need a bit of work. Pistons are okay, but each cylinder needs a hone and new rings. And of course new crank and rod bearings. The head is fine which is a huge bonus! Body wise it will need a good buff, I will get pics up so you guys can check it out and I'll post pics on progress.

Side note: If anybody is following this please feel free to give me your input with regards to other parts that should be replaced or advice ... its all welcomed and appreciated!!

BTW yah I still have the last project, my wife conviced me to keep it. She just loves that thing, everytime I mention selling it its a fight. This project is a flipper though .... for sure this time!

I think it's a great deal for $2600. I would take on that project for that investment too.
