New to me 1998 GTX ltd Concerns

Bill O'Neal knew more about Seadoo than even Seadoo. If he says to use silicone then that is the final word.

1. No clue.
2. Yes, should be fine as long as it looks correct.

I've used the neoprene seal listed for the 1998 GTX Limited with no issues and no trimming needed. The Seal part number is listed on the parts list it is item number 7 but mis-marked as Pump Housing. There is a difference in later pumps but they use a different type of neoprene seal. The "293200051" seal does not hold the jet pump further away from the PTO... it fits on the Outside diameter. YMMV. Just sharing what I've enountered personnal. I have another 1998 GTX Limited outside... it's getting the neoprene seal when I installe the pump. Good Luck!

Sorry for the dumb questions, I’m confused i dont see the 293200051 on the 1998 parts list #7 on the parts list is 271000936 which is the housing. I have the seal on hand so i might install it if it fits fine and doesn’t cause any issues

Also out of curiosity would you know why my new thrust bearing looks different compared to all the ones i found online even the oem ones… this is oem from dealer with the correct part number but it looks different… wondering if they redesigned it or someone put the wrong part while packing at the factory

I tried to use the rubber season my 98 gtx also with no luck. I just put some sealer on it and put it back together.

These are the different neoprene Seals for the 155mm pumps that I've experienced. When I first saw the seal on the left is caused me to do some research. :) I believe the pump pictured uses the seal on the left.

Click on #7 the 051 part number. You're correct if you click on the 936. It is strange but I'm not surprised with the parts. I have had many adventures trying to find parts using these drawings. Good Luck :D

Is this okay/normal ? Should i be concerned or need to do anything special ?

I use a neoprene seal on my 98 gsx limited, no issues.

I think we should clarify the "Neoprene seal" as it gets confusing.....

The "Neoprene Seal" as defined by Seadoo is the soft foam one that is like weather-stripping and is only made for the 140mm pumps on the 787 and smaller engines. This is the die-cut circle with self stick adhesive that mounts to the hull side of the pump shoe. It should not be reused

The rubber seal is used on the 155mm pumps and is actual rubber and fits on the outside diameter of the pump. I still don't know if the 1998 "Limited" models used this from the factory or not. This seal can be reused if not torn or rotten.

But the rubber seals are "listed" as "Neoprene seal" on the parts lists. LOL I just figure they use to term NOT to describe the material but as "part identification." For what that may be worth. :D

Don't use the jet pump seal for the 98 1/2 and up with the brass wear ring it will cause the wear ring to spin in the jet pump housing.the right stuff works ok.but I always use fast cure 3m 5200.and yes it is hard to remove but it holds the wear ring in place.the newer style pumps use set screwed to hold the wear ring from spinning.
