My piston is scoring...any ideas?

Okay im going to try and make this short. I have rebuilt this engine before, it has a new top end on it last year and i put about 10 or so hours on it. When I rebuild it, the pto original piston had some scoring on the side of it. Not sure why, but it did, nothing terribly deep, just kind of wavy. When I did the rebuild, i had to split the cases to change out the rotary gear which of course shredded, and i resealed them together working straight from the manual, and i did nothing to the crankshaft. Engine ran great last year. So just a couple days ago with the forum members help i realized i was using the not recommended Semi-Synthetic oil so i drained it all from the tank, and vacuumed it out of the rotary gear lines. Changed to quicksilver full synthetic. Back to the point, i was going through the rave valves for a cleaning (and replacement of mag side melted rave cap). I looked down into the rave slot to see a few very small score marks on my new pistons :cuss:. Why would it be doing this? Im assuming it has something to do with the crankshaft, but I had my dealer mechanic and another avid seadoo rebuilder/reseller look at the crank and say it was still good to use. Im not going to tear it down and fix it, im just going to leave it as is. When i rebuilt it, the pto piston which was scored up a little still had 150 psi at 150 hours, and i just want to ride the thing as i am tired of fixing it. Just wondering what would cause this? So much for this being a short post

Are the new pistons oversize? If so did you chamfer the rave valves to match the pistons?

Lou, can always count on you for the quickest advice. I have the same ski as in your avatar. I had the cylinders resleeved back to standard size and all of the work was done by Full Bore. Im know they have a good reputation.

you should fog it if you store it for some time, what happens is some rust forms in pipe above cylinder sometimes, and falls in, you start it and this happens, if compression is good, you should be alright

There's a ski in my avatar?

Hahaha...well for right now it just sounds like fogging is the way to go. But it is weird because the scoring is on the upper side of the piston, same as last time. I would think if stuff was falling it would go to the bottom side, because, you know, that little thing called gravity
