Okay, so i was out today on my 2001 seadoo gti and it just suddenly went dead, good thing i was 20 ft from shore. so i put it on the trailer and took it back home. when i opened it up i checked the battery, its good. there is a 5 amp fuses that keeps blowing when i replace it. and when i put the dess key in nothing happens, no churp, no gas gauge going on, the start button doesnt work. does anybody have any suggestions? thanx for ur help...

disconnect the red and yellow wires from rectifier, then see if fuse keeps pop'n. If so, then "pm"..alex roadhouse,...and see if any conclusion on his mpem, from "allthingscustom", before you mail it out to that company. Allthingscustom, only one knows how to repair that problem, without hav'n to purchase new npem, but he as since relocated, so check with "alex" before shipp'n...

okay im new to the pwc, ive only had it a month, where is the rectifier? also, it doesnt even beep or the gauges turn on when i turn it on. do u think its just the mpem? to tell u the truth i can have him fix the mpem or buy a new one, i just want it to run again. thanx for your help...

All things custom....

I have been in touch with Mike, with All Things Custom and while he has reloctated, he is still working on these mpems. I think it's a good idea to try and reach him through his ebay site before PM's in the forum

As for your problem, the 5 amp fuse is part of the power circuit of the mpem. If it's grounded or this problem that Mike has discovered is causing it, then this is why your not getting any power to the ski.

On the ohter hand, if you have a good 5 amp fuse and the ski does not power up when you put on the lanyard on the post, then the post may be bad.

i sent the mpem out to mike and just got it back, tried starting it up & nothing, im not too happy. just sent him an email, he offers a money back guarantee so hopefully ill get my cash back so i can drop the ski off @ a seadoo shop locally and let them diagnose it...

Is it still blowing the 5amp fuse?
Lets try Snipes idea with the post before you go and take it some where.
Here's a little info on the DESS system might help.

Advanced Self-Diagnostic Mode
It needs to be enabled manually. Proceed as follows:
1. Remove safety lanyard cap from watercraft switch.
2. Press 5 times on the watercraft start/stop button.
NOTE: 1 short beep and 1 long beep must be heard. They validate beginning of diagnostic mode.
3. Install safety lanyard on watercraft switch.
4. Press the watercraft start/stop button again.
NOTE: If everything is correct, engine will start.

If not let us know what you get. 1 long and
1 short beeps, 2 short beeps, 2 long beeps, or 3 short beeps.

i contacted mike @ all things custom about the mpem repair and sent him the part. he sent it back and it was not repaired. he offerers a moneyback guarantee, but refused to refund my money. so im out $130 for the repair that was never done. he is deceitful and stole my money. thank god i paypaled it so i can stop the charge on my credit card. he is dishonest, do not trust him.

you try the rectifier trick??? Bad rectifier will pop the fuse, or bad stator/metal shavings in stator, will pop the fuse also...

.........
