Are the Slippery brand wetsuits any good?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Slippery-Br...281809183455?var=&hash=item419d22e2df&vxp=mtr This seems like a good deal. I was going to get a Jet pilot one but its a good bit more expensive.
never wore a wetsuit before, gonna start shopping for one just in case I make the trip....i'm 6' 2" approx 200lbs, how do these things fit? found a couple lightly used ones for 50 bucks or so but don't wanna scoop one up that is a "large" when it's gonna fit like a free clinic condom
I've never worn a full wetsuit so my opinions should come with a grain of salt but i'm going to throw my .02 in there anyway.
I've always felt that snug neoprene suit would be quite uncomfortable for a full day's riding, especially if you end up being dry the majority of the time. If you plan on getting tossed on several occasions during the day then I think its a great idea but if you don't plan on falling off (I don't), then I think your better served with a dry top / dry pant option.
What I found to suit my taste and ride style best was a nice solid dry top and/or a tour coat. My primary goal was/is to keep my arms and chest dry when driving along at 45mph, when the wind really stings. It rains down here in FL more than it gets cold so we always have to be prepared for that as well. The dry tops are loose fitting and basically just waterproof wind breakers with a thin lining, the tour coats are heavier lined neoprene but they fit looser like a jacket, not tight like an underarmour shirt. Another advantage of the thinner tops is that they roll up quite small & light and you can shove them in the bottom of even the smallest storage bin and still have room left over for other stuff.
I ordered a pair of lined snowboard pants to complement the 3 top's I plan on bringing, I picked those up for $20 shipped on ebay, there are 100's of pairs for sale, slightly used, I might also borrow a pair of kayak pants from my neighbor, just haven't made it over to his place to see what he has in the closet.
Again, I've never worn a full wetsuit mainly because I rarely fall off, and my waters are rarely cold enough to be a difference maker, I just hated riding at 50mph with a wet shirt/vest even if it was just from a wave splash, and having my arms be so cold i'm crying for my mamma.
When we did the Orlando group ride it was cold/damp/raining for two of the rides and my dry top and a pair of board shorts were more than enough to keep me comfortable for the full ride.
