hello all: i was flushing my seadoo this afternoon - hooked up the garden hose, turned on the engine, turned on the water and started revving it when it suddenly started making this god awful noise which would not go away even turning the engine on and off afterwards. then the message "maint" and "exhaust" came on then the seadoo would not even start. i dont even know where to begin to fix this. can anyone give me an idea? thanks a bunch.

Rob

Sounds like you overheated the exhaust in the process. Have you tried starting it after it sat for a while?

No I have not tried that. I will try that with the garden hose reattached if it will not do more damage. I'm afraid to even anything to it now. I hope that is all the problem.

Something similar happened to me. Mine just displayed the temp light and the fault code which happened to be exhaust temp high. Let lit cool off and good as new. Sometimes a hose isn't flowing enough water to cool the exhaust when you rev it too much. Typically on the hose keep it at idle and maybe a quick rev but not much more than that.

I started the sea doo today after it sat there for a few days and it did start !!! However, I could see the "maint" would appear for a couple of seconds then disappear. Is this normal? Also I don't think it sounds normal like it used to when i rev it a bit.

Should be all good. What do you mean it doesn't sound normal? Can you describe it a little better?

KK: the best i could describe it is that it sounds "rougher" than i am used to hearing it sound. could be just my imagination. i guess the real test will come when i put her back on the water. by the way, thanks for the advise. you were the only one who responded to this. i even posted a similar question in the premium section and never got a reply from the "experts" who are supposed to give the premium members a faster reply.

Only way to know is to water test is. I'm pretty sure you're good to go. Mine did the same thing and it was fine after it cooled off. To be honest I never tried posting in the premium section before. You post over here and we'll try to help the best we can.

saying maint is just a way for the seadoo to remind you to change the oil and do other maint. Must have buds or other system to reset the maint code. it will stay until it is reset. I have had it come on in the same way.
