My Sea Doo manual recommends using Loctite 515 to the carb mating surface before attaching the flame arrestor holder to the carbs. I recall the last time I performed that task that a small tube cost over $35 and there was not much substance inside the tube. In my opinion, the cost was/is
outrageous!

I further recall when I disassembled those parts it did not appear that there was any substance applied thereto, so, I am wondering, is there a substitute I can use, i..e, 3 Bond, or do I really have to apply any sealing compound between those two parts?

Also, do I need to use any sealing compound between the jet pump and the hull when I reinstall?

Gaskets

I don't think my ski even had a sealant between the carbs. and the flame arrestor. I think mine just uses a gasket. I would think that the blue rtv silicone gasket maker sealant would me more than sufficient.

As far as attaching the pump to the ski, I use Loctite Marine Grade Silicone Sealer on all protrusions through the hull, 2 for the siphon pickups, one for the engine water intake. The sealer is about 10.00 for the tube. I also use sparingly where the wear ring meets the hull, the original design calls for a foam gasket, which is always either gone or in pieces. This is probably not even needed but it might cut down on vibration.
