It is time to install the Jet Pump to my 93 GTX Hull.

What brand/type of Sealant/Gasket Maker will work?

I have some Three Bond 1211, however a friend told me to avoid that because he only uses The Right Stuff.

I am presuming the Sealant is to keep water out of the hull, so, I was thinking any water resistant sealant should suffice!

I simply want something that will do the job so I can get this Doo back on the River today.

If you are putting the shoe to the hull... I use black RTV. if you are talking about the pump to the shoe... you need a gasket. (no sealant)

Dr. H, you are using "confusing' words! (remember lol)

I don't know what the "shoe" is you refer to. In my case, I literally have the "pump" in my hand which has two hoses that go through the hull and attach somewhere which I know I can figure out.

I noticed that the area where the hoses are coming from the "pump" has some type of black, rubbery material which I presume was a gasket.

So, do I simply remove the black substance and in its place use a sealant, or use Three Bond 1211 silicone gasket or the Right Stuff, (black) gasket maker by Permatex?

The pump shoe, normally doesn't come out of the hull. It's the part that the pump bolts to, and it directs the water into the pump.

The proper method to install the pump is to use a gasket for the main pump body, and a little RTV around the cooling hose, and bailing hose fittings.
